Need help finding cars that fit my friend's needs/wants.

- import sedan/hatchback.
- no older then 10 years old.
- automatic.
- FWD or AWD.
- decent MPG (25mpg city)
- back up camera (stronger prefer OEM)
- would love something under 90k miles.
- All within a 10k. I say 10k because you factor you spend 2k on repairs/mods/tweaks to the driver's liking.

I thought this was somewhat easy to find but i've only found a few mazda 3 and corolla that have this and they were somewhat overpriced for what you get.

I did find one 2009 TSX that had everything and wanted $11k but it was gone instantly.

Ford C-Max. technically it is an import since I think it's built in Mexico.

Honda Fit? Your friend can probably find a 2012-2013 with under 50k, with CVT, for under 10k, and you can't get a more reliable car. Plus, 30mpg is easy in it.

10k cars are hard to find. Might be the best bet with the OP's checklist.

What is the range of these? The leaf was a decent car but not having access to a plug all the time and like a 90 mile range is like a deathwish.

The electric one can also be driven in hybrid mode.

That's my understanding as well. Both versions of the C-Max have gas engines; one (the "Energi" version) just has a larger battery and the ability to plug in to charge the battery.

Ah, indeed you all are correct. At any rate, it was never very popular so it would probably be cheaper than an equivalent Prius.

My grandparents have a C-Max Energi and like it, mostly because they only have to fill the tank about every two months. (They're at an age where they only drive between 10AM and 4PM, mostly to church and the grocery store, so the 50 mile or so range on the battery is plenty for them.)

I have to say, it's a pretty nice car.

The number 1 most important thing is the rear view camera. There is no way around that.

Mazda 3 would need to be loaded to have the camera, those are a little more harder to find.

You do realize that backup cameras can be installed for a few hundred right?

Amazon has backup camera systems starting at around $25, and it's generally as easy as running a wire from the back of the car to the front, and finding somewhere to stick the screen. If you want something a bit more integrated, you can get a head unit with a large display for ~$100 plus another $10-15 for the camera itself.

And tapping into the reverse light harness unless you want to manually switch the camera.

But normally camera quality stinks and having an extra screen somewhere is a hassle.

I suggested an older car that I can install a double din for $500-1000 but they didn't want it. OEM with parking sensors is what they want.

Slowly walk away from this is what I would suggest strongly.
