I have been shopping around for a used lappy in the forums for sometime now...can I say people want to much most of the time? This place sells them at prices better then I see in the forums plus they offer warrantys. I don't know if they are reliable but they are registered with the BBB.

How old are the batteries? In a laptop, replacement batteries will run you another $125 or so.

I'm just guessing these are buy-backs from corporate leasing programs.

Some of the descriptions say how long the battery lasts under which OS, other say battery is "good".

Seems to me they are committed to not ship bad batteries.

A 600 MHz Pentium-III or better can do most things you need, Firefox in particular.

The best place I've found to buy used laptops is the AT FS/T forum, though these are better deals than most internest shops.

You haven't price around much have you...getting someone to sell you an old laptop for what I consider is a fair price is nearly impossible.

I use a T23 at work right now, and have a couple spare T22's... IBM makes a good laptop, no doubt. Although I will be upgrading very soon, I really like my T23 (upgraded memory and HDD).

I too use a T23 at work, it sure takes a beating riding around for miles on the console of the van. I doubt the Dells, etc. would stand up to the daily grind like an IBM T series.

Did you not read what you just quoted? He didn't say $400, he said more like $599, and occasionally $499. That's after rebate prices (Usually anyway, unless a special sale comes up).

Last month I bought 5 refurbished Dell 1000's for $391 each (shipped) 2.2ghz, 30gb hd, 256mb, cdrw/dvd, xp, wireless card and a 1 year warranty, today you could of bought them all day long for $474.

I do agree that people do ask a lot for their tired laptops.

That said, nice find OP. If anyone wants a used Thinkpda, check out IBM's Certified Used Store. They have great deals too, you can upgrade certain models to 1GB RAM for $59 and add on a backpack or extra AC adapter for $1. I think they have a 3 or 6 month warranty and u can extend it to one year. Hotness if you ask me
