Hi all,

I'm trying to create a user profile for my suitemates who use my computer. I'm specifically trying to stop them from messing with the control panel and one drive. I've found out how to get rid of those items from the registry but the problem is that the registry always reverts back to the original setting when I log into my admin account. Here are the steps I'm going through:

1. create an admin acct for the other users (let's say "friends" acct)
2. log into friends acct and edit the registry
3. log out and log back in to make sure it's working
4. log out again and log back into the admin acct to change the friends status to limited
5. log out and log into friends acct once more, everything is fine.
6. log into admin acct and log out once more.
7. log into friends acct and all the registry changes are now gone.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Two words for ya: GROUP POLICY
Go Google it and read up on how to use it. Any registry tweaks should and always be considered a LAST resort.

What you have to do from an admin account is to make your friends regular "users." If they have "admin" or "power user" rights they can change various settings. If they were just "users" they would be restricted from doing a lot of things like installing software and printers. You can also give them permissions for more access to areas you want to give them.
