Firefox was eating up 15-20% of my CPU consistently. Mozilla nibbled on 2-5%. 20% CPU is too much for a browser when I'm not using it.
(at the very least I'm sure we can both agree they're worlds better than IE)
Yes.

Hop it up with some side windows and cold-cathode lights, LED fans, a fan controller/temp readout, etc. If your apartment gets broken into, guess which PC they'll steal, if they can only carry one.

You can control it by means of VNC, I've got one at work that I run like that. If you want to do a DC project, some guy with too much time on his hands cooked up some DC FAQ's a while back: article

strange...it uses virtually nil on my personal computer, even with tons of windows open, and on my work computer (PIII-450 class hardware) it still uses only 2-4%, and drops to 0-1% when it's not actively loading pages.

I beg to differ my fellow spacefaring friend. A P3-500 is roughly 5-6 year old technology, with today's games/OSes and etc. this processor will not be able to keep up. I think Anything under a Ghz will simply not do for any decently resourced programs that have been made in the past 2-3 years. Of course there are some functions like MP3 playing, using it for simple network functions or even to play old games that won't run on current OSes and hardware, which could be useful, but for a main system anyone doing more than surfing the net and listening to music needs to spend $100 and get at least an athlon 1800+ setup or better, which I don't even consider entry level anymore.
