using 4 speakers & 2 subs?

by chance, I have come across an extra set of 2 speakers and a sub. I'm wondering if I could use just a normal splitter to run all the speakers from my computer? I just want to split the output from my soundcard and then hook up the two sets to one part of the split line....will this work?

Will it work? Sure..but it will not have any surround sound obviously..Just stereo..but probably an improvement...

Yeah I do that for my headphones
No reason you couldn't do it for a second set of speakers.

Getting a four channel sound card, and putting the second set of speakers to the rear channel and behind you would be even better though.

okay, I might be a moron here. I've got a SB Live! card. It's got a headphones output, mic input, and two other speaker outputs. I don't know exactly what model sound card it is....but I think it has surround sound. only problem is, the second channel output doesn't seem to work. do I have to set it up?

yeah i think you need to set it up by using sound blaster software that provided to you. In the software you can change your 2 ways speaker to 4 ways.

crap! okay, I see how to do it. but now the brand-new BA735 speakers aren't working. on this computer, or on my other one. on the back of the BA735 sub, it says "digital in" where the computer plugs into it...do I need a digital sound card to get the new speakers working, or shouldn't it just play anyway?

after looking at some manuals for the sound card and the speakers, I found that the sound card requires that you hook up digital speakers into the yellow jack on the card. but, there is no yellow jack on the sound card. there's a green for analog, and the second one is black. think the black one might be digital out?
