Using eSATA in RAID 1 configuration?

I have a 250GB boot drive and a 500GB storage/music drive.
Would it be feasable to get a external 500GB drive and set up a RAID 1 configuration to mirror my internal storage/music drive using eSATA?

Has anyone done this?
Or am I better of doing internal RAID?
I have a ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP mobo with a eSATA RAID controller.

It all depends on the RAID controller. I know that mobo has a eSATA port, but only your mobo manual can tell if it can be included in an internal RAID array.

If you are going to do that, why not remove the SATA drive from the eSATA case and install it internally? Then RAID 1 can be built for sure.

To have a portable, external drive married to an internal drive doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I have an Asus Crosshair & its eSATA port can be used for a RAID array, also you can turn any internal SATA port into eSATA simply by making use of a header that fits into a PCI slot so you should be able to make it work.

True! But that external SATA drive will be seen by Windows as Internal, and you may start to get delayed write errors in some cases.
