OMG I couldn't believe it the other day I was at a restaurant and this IDIOT gave his credit card number to a guy making TWO DOLLARS AN HOUR!!!

I mean, holy crap he could steal the number AND the security code!111!!!11! Some people are SO dumb.

Seriously though, the only time my CC has been skimmed (and promptly cancelled by my bank) was at an upscale casual restaurant :|. Consequently, I now pay cash on the rare occasions when I dine out.

While I dont really worry about this I do typically go into an open office or one of our phone booths for privacy when booking travel arrangements. I wouldn't broadcast my CC info but also am not paranoid that if I did have to take a call at my desk I would without concern.

What is the difference between doing that and doing it from your workstation, which IT can watch like TV and copy down anything you type?

At least I know the coworkers around me and can trust them. I don't know anyone from IT on a personal level.

And as someone mentioned, you take a far bigger risk any time you go to restaurant. I do know of folks who have had their numbers stolen that way.
