USPS Mail Forwarding?

Quick question here.. We're moving, and I did the USPS Change of Address thing.

I put in my name, and chose Family.. so they should be forwarding everything with our last name. I told them to start forwarding on Tuesday, the 4th.

I've received a couple of pieces of mail the last 2 days, as has my brother.. but it doesn't seem like the normal mail load.

Is this normal? Should I call the USPS? How can I trust that we're going to get all our mail?

Visit your local post office to make sure they have it on file. It usually takes a couple days to be applied to your address and has worked great for me every time I've used it.

It depends on how well your post office employees keep an eye on things. I put through one of those a few months ago. Most of my mail got forwarded, but some of it still got sent to my old address. I don't know if it's automated, or if it's just something that the post office does. I'm kind of surprised that it wouldn't get entered into the PO's main database, and then automatically rectified when the mail's passing through their automated sorting systems.

I wish the previous owners of our house forwarded their mail. We still get a good deal of mail (including bills) addressed to them. I used to return the items to sender, but its been over 6 months now, so I just throw it away.

same here... i've tried writing 'Return to Sender' on them and they keep coming back.

some of the mail seems important too... don't know how to get it to them.
