USPS Priority Mail - Signature Confirmation

Just got something shipped my way with signature confirmation... never had that done.

Usually it's UPS or FedEx, and 95% of my UPS deliveries are just no signature required. The FedEx ones that require signature are of no worry because my local Fedex station closes at 8 or 9, so I can pick up anytime after 6:30.

So what about USPS? I understand the Post Office closes at 5, so that's a bit tough for me as I get out at 6 at the earliest, and I'm a solid 20 min away from my local PO.

Is there a sign-and-leave at my door option or a call-in to tell them to leave it at the office so I can perhaps try a morning 8:30am pickup?

Post Offices open pretty early in the morning. How about going early? Usually they will leave a yellow Post-It note with a space to sign on it. The USPS.com site may also have some options for you.

Early is always an option. im just curious how early the trucks start going out though. With UPS/FedEx they start by 6am. The reason you go late for a pickup (say after 6:30pm for FedEx, and my UPS station used to tell me to go between 830-9pm) is that the trucks come back and they can fetch your package. As for USPS I'm not sure how this works.

Usually the USPS sticky note says you can pick your package up at your PO after x time the following day, so you may have to wait to the day after that to pick it up in the morning.

(note to self) next time ship it to work damnit. apparently my work address is now a paypal verified address after a few merchants have delivered there.... maybe now FS/FT people will be willing to send there =)
