I don't mind USPS, when stuff gets shipped through them the customs are usually not as high as with UPS. Come to think of it, I don't even recall having to pay any customs for the last few things I ordered off ebay. Came from China though. I think we must have some kind of deal with China because everything from there is so much cheaper to ship than from the states and often just as fast. Unless it's from Amazon, then it takes bloody ages. I'm waiting for a cable that I ordered in like January. I guess they're building the ship first.

Never had issues with the USPS, but we use a post office. My only complaint would be the hours it is open. I would say lowest on my list is Fedex.

Funny this thread popped up. Here is a prime example of what I am talking about with regards to the Post Office's horrible service. Product was shipped on the 3rd with a delivery date of the 6th. Well it's now the 9th and I haven't seen hide nor hair of it. In fact, the USPS system is so awful, they evidently haven't seen it either as there has been no scan activity since the day it left Tulsa.



This shit doesn't happen with FedEx or UPS. Sure, they miss deliveries too, but at least the packages are scanned in a timely matter and you can see when re-delivery will be attempted. With the USPS all you can do is hope and pray you package will make it "sometime" to its destination. And that is if you are lucky.

I only wish I had known this shipper was going to use USPS. Would have gladly paid the extra to get it shipped with a REAL carrier.

USPS has tracking for the same reason graphics card companies and MB manufacturing companies have customer service departments so, they can say they have one. If you talk to USPS they will tell you straight out that tracking is not updated until delivery is made. Tracking has nothing to do with timely delivery or care of packages. Tracking is a marketing tool for basement dwellers who want to whine about how the $1.50 they saved is taking soOooooOooo long to get here. Go outside cupcake and stay off my lawn!

I avoid USPS at all costs. When they say 2 weeks, they mean. They get the item on day 1. It sits in a warehouse for 12 days. On day 13 it leaves that state and shows up in yours is in your hands on day 14.

I actually pay more to avoid them if I have to.

I've always said taxes should be part of the advertised price. You see an item on the shelf for $25 you pay $25. The tax and all the other fees would be included in the price. They'd still have to break down on your receipt what money went towards what. This would simplify everybody's life, not only retailers but consumers as well. It would also make it easier to buy things with cash, because you don't have to worry about if you'll have enough because the price you see is the price you pay. Lot of stores now are even adding environmental fees on stuff, so tax is not the only thing that gets tacked on at the cash. All these fees should be part of the price. Yeah everything would "go up" 15% but it would come up to more or less the same thing.

Their infrastructure sucks. Their tracking sucks. Their customer service sucks. Every single thing about them sucks.

Every single time I have a package that gets shipped with them, something goes wrong. Then you check the status online and their tracking is never anywhere close to up to date. That ok! They have a customer service number, lets call them. After 40+ minutes on hold you finally get someone who is not only clueless but can't help at all.

My current issue is a package was mailed out on the 3rd via 2 day. Should have been here yesterday but it wasn't and it wasn't delivered today either. I check the tracking and I see:


The lady on the phone told me it was weather. Then that the sort facility was backed up. Then that she wasn't sure but it was for sure on its way. Then that she didn't know where my package was.

This is nothing. I have much worse in NYC.

1)Here in Brooklyn, NY the USPS delivery guys make it a rule NOT to deliver packages. It's sort of an unspoken rule that you cant expect them to deliver. You have to go to the mail office to pick up your package.
I was furious about not getting my packages, so I complained. That was pointless. USPS is very rude on the phone. One manager told me: "So what do you want me to do?! FIRE HIM?!". Another lady asked laughingly "What's the problem with picking it up? Don't you drive?!" "The mailman is very busy. He doesn't have time for everyone!"

I know it sounds insane but that's exactly how these people talk on the phone.

2)When I go to the post office, and try to send a book with media mail, I am told it's not media mail and I have to pay full price for shipping!
If I print the label at home, I get no problem using media mail. This happens again, and again.

3)USPS clerks are extremely rude in general. Not all, but most of them.

1st world problems.

For my part I've never had an issue with USPS as long as I've lived, in several states. They aren't the best, but for the price you can't beat what they offer.
