So I ordered an item off of amazon, and I had it shipped to my office cause the post office that delivers to my address is located in the ghetto and hires section 3 people, so my packages come whenever they get around to it. Well the item was supposed to be delivered today the 13th. So when I called the post office they said it was delivered early on Saturday. So they delivered to a business, on a weekend, and left it outside where at least a hundred people a day walk by. oh and they never updated the tracking on their website to show it being delivered till today.

I guess I can thank our wonderful mail system for being out $200 and a xmas present for the gf.

Wow that sucks. I use the post office for my business and have only had two issue so far out of ~800 or so packages being sent out. One was sent to Mexico though so I'm not sure I want to blame the PO.

Hope you got insurance otherwise you are screwed.

Suppose you can file a complaint with usps for leaving the package like that unless they were told ahead of time they can drop off packages like that but generally they leave notes saying no one was there and where to pick it up / rescheduled delivery date.

Also what was it?

Yeah I figured they would leave a note as well, but they are not required to unless it calls for signature, and even them they don't have to.

The post office my be won't leave a package to a business that is closed on the weekends. Contact Amazon if any case.

USPS never leaves a package at my office on Saturday. Always hold it until Monday. However, we have had the same postal lady for at least 10 years if not longer. She brings the boxes all the way in to my desk, every time.

USPS tracking is 100% guranteed, 100% guranteed to update after it has been delivered.

that's pretty screwed up.

here in Denmark they don't even allow your neighbour to sign for a package and if they just left it outside without a signature, the ombudsman would roundhouse kick them in the face for it.

UPDATE: AMAZON IS THE BEST COMPANY EVER!

Hello,

I am sorry to know you did not receive your item as you expected by Dec 13, 2011 and USPS left the package by the door on the weekend without informing. I completely understand your disappointment and I'll surely help you with this issue.

I've checked your order and see it was placed with Heart Rate Monitors USA, a seller on our website. Because Heart Rate Monitors USA's inventory is constantly changing, we can't replace items sold by them that are Fulfilled by Amazon.

Instead, I've requested a full refund of $189.00 for the Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS-Enabled Sport Watch with Heart Rate Monitor (Pink) , since you didn't received the item. This refund will appear in the next 2-3 business days as a credit on the original payment method used for the order. Once processed, you'll be able to see the refund here:

If you still want the Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS-Enabled Sport Watch with Heart Rate Monitor (Pink), please place a new order. I've provided the current listing for this item below:

I'm forwarding your feedback about USPS to our shipping department--I know they'll want to hear about your experience.

We're aware that our choice of delivery services reflects on our business as a whole, and we appreciate your feedback.

I realize your order experience hasn't been as positive as you'd hoped, but I hope you'll consider this an isolated incident and give us another chance in the future.

If you do need to contact us in the future, here's a link to our e-mail form:

Thank you for your recent inquiry. Did I solve your problem?

Best regards,

Sunny S

Sounds like Amazon is bending over backwards to do the right thing. Now if you do reorder the item, have it sent UPS or Fedex with a Signature Required, since you are in a bad area. Or you can tell the shipper to mark as Hold For Pickup, which would then be at your UPS / Fedex or USPS location. They do this a lot, since people are not always home or on vacation.

Yeah, I will definitely have them ship it Fedex. I know the delivery guy for Fedex and he will leave a note.

This kind of thing is why I generally have items shipped to work.

Granted, a 50lb+ ladder and other bulky items simply should not go through my mail room, but smaller boxes (that generally contain more expensive items) are never left exposed to unsavory characters.

Old thread..but I just wanted to add my "USPS sucks" as well.

Bought an ipod touch off ebay - seller shipped it USPS priority mail [didn't use insurance or signature confirmation - just delivery confirmation as I wasn't given the choice].

Checked the tracking info - and USPS said it was delivered at 3:43 pm today.

Um...no it wasn't USPS! I checked my mail at 2:30 today - a few letters but no packages.

It's not in my mailbox [residential neighborhood with a 1 stop multi-mailbox setup] nor was it left on my porch [USPS is good about ringing the doorbell].

I think the USPS employee has trouble reading addresses as they've delivered packages to the wrong address before over the past few years.

I suspect I'll probably never see the package considering the contents AND if it was opened.

So they did exactly what UPS or Fedex would have done if they showed up to deliver a package and no one was there? They all would have just left the package there if they didn't require a signature. The only real problem was that USPS delivers on Saturday when no one was there.

No, UPS and FEDEX require us to sign for EVERYTHING, whether it was asked to have signature or not. They leave a note if no one is there to sign for it. We get notes all the time from them.

Almost the same thing happened to me with something I ordered off of Amazon. The tracking system (and I use that term loosely because USPS's "tracking" is an absolute joke) claimed it had been delivered. Next day, nothing. Day after that, still nothing, so I called Amazon support and told them I thought the package may have been lost. They sent another identical product to me and told me that if I get two, just refuse shipment on one.

Well, the next day it finally showed up. Couple days later I got the second one so I just dropped it off at the post office and told them to send it back. Yay Amazon.

USPS's tracking system is retarded. They'll mark something as "delivered" when all that's happened is it has arrived at your local sorting facility. Could take a couple more days to get to you but they don't tell you that. It's not like UPS tracking where you can see the "out for delivery" status and know that the box is on a truck heading for your house. So I'd advise you to wait a couple days before assuming it's lost.

Then again, you might want to contact the seller right away so they're aware that there might be a problem. You don't want to wait too long in these situations.
