Mailman picked up a package with a prepaid Priority Mail label last Wednesday. Tracking still says "Electronic Shipping Info Received"

Am I f***ed ? I know their tracking is laggy, but never seen it go this long.

I've had packages never show up in the system, despite the tracking number being straight from the receipt. If you know who you sent it to, just have them look out for it.

Thanks, I sent an email but ill give them a call tomorrow. Problem is its one of those international ebay deals where you ship it to Tennessee, and then they ship it international from there. Not sure how much help I will get on their end.

I think this is the last time I use USPS.. What good is tracking + sig confirm + delivery confirm etc etc etc, when it only works randomly...

Maybe the post office didn't scan the item properly for it to show up on the system. Priority mail does insure items up to $50 free of charge so you could go down that route. I assume the recipient has yet to receive??

Someone goofed up. I ordered some coffee last week and the tracking was as good as FedEx. I was shocked.

If you are f***ed it is because you used USPS AND you expected tracking. USPS DOES NOT provide tracking in the traditional (UPS/Fed Ex) sense. If your intent was to be able to actually know where your package was in transition from you to the receiver, then you chose the wrong shipping method. Using USPS "tracking" I've had packages still show in transit days after receiving them.

To summarize: USPS DOES NOT provide "tracking".

They may be shipping (internationally) through Fed Ex in Memphis. I haven't shipped internationally in about 10 years but suggest you pay a little more and use either Fed Ex or UPS. Lesson learned ...

I did hundreds (at least 300+) of packages with USPS, only had trouble with maybe 2-3. Could have been worse.

The so called tracking number was never intended to be used for tracking. It is called delivery confirmation and thats what it does. Any scans on the way there are bonuses. You have to remember where the term "postal" comes from... you can't expect those people to scan every package on their way through can you?

Becasue it is the USPS. When I state that the USPS does not provide tracking ... I mean in the conventional sense (as in UPS and Fed Ex).

Ding, ding, ding ... we have a winner!

If you want it shipped fast and accurately tracked use Fed Ex or UPS as their bottom line depends upon it.

USPS is great if you do not need it fast or on a specific date but if you do ... case in point: I purchased an item from a vendor specifically because the vendor was close (75 miles) and I knew I would get it FAST, right? Wrong! USPS took 5 days to get the item to me. I am not complaining ... I use the USPS for those cases when I do not need it to be there on a specific date.

My only Priority package experience from the USPS was like this ...

Counter clerk pushed me hard to use Priority instead of overnight. I didn't care about the cost and just needed to get a check to someone fast. The delivery distance was across Atlanta and should have been just in the local delivery system.

I broke down and accepted the Priority Package method and it took 3.5 weeks for them to deliver it. Yes, 3.5 WEEKS to drive from NE Atlanta to NW Atlanta. In that time I wound up meeting the recipient halfway to hand deliver a replacement check.

I got the original check back a month later, torn up as requested, and delivered in two days by regular USPS mail. I have chosen to not use Priority service ever again.

actually when going across the country priority mail is my preferred carrier. it is so much faster than the comparably priced UPS ground. Things like flat rate boxes are fantastic. Most of the time it really is 2-3 days. Now when you go UNDER priority mail you're asking for trouble. Things like parcel post is say your prayers post.

Their tracking system is a little behind the times. My neighbor actually works for the programming group that does some of the software on the tracking side. They've been trying to play catch up with Fed Ex and UPS for years and just don't have the financial backing to do it.

Years ago, I ordered a package that was shipped across the company. They delivered it to the wrong post office (zip code) and ended up shipping it back across the country....then back again to get to the right one. It was messed up. The package took a month to deliver.

I've never had any issues with USPS in all my years of trading (since 2001).
