that's how i have mine configured. i have this adapter and card in my win xp desktop and i have a 3com card in my laptop. it works. i always thought 3com and usr were now one, but apparently they still produce their own line of products.

Guys, I just got my Adapter and card. While now I realize(I am new to this stuff) I still need another wireless PC Card to get my notebook and desktop sharing the internet. Am I right here?

If I were right what is the point to buy this set? It will cost more than $100 and I also need to keep my desktop on all the time. With almost the same money I can go with a wireless router. Someone give me some good comments please. I feel see pissed off.

After one week, I still have not have my notebook connected.

By the way I'm currently having major problems trying to get this to work in XP, so buy at your own risk.

I ordered this card to use in my desktop which is running Windows XP, but I can't get it to work with my Cisco Aironet base station. Anybody have any luck getting this card to work with Windows XP?

BUMMER! I ordered on 5/2, but I just got my backorder email from outpost. $70 before rebate just can't be touched...Dell and Walmart want 90 and Tiger wants 85. Gonna call Dell and see if they'll PM Outpost...maybe I'll get lucky.

Got mine in just two days (Friday). Downloaded the 1.28 driver from usrobotics site. Worked right off with defaults peer to peer in Windows XP. Zippy fast. I might recommend installing the card in the PC with the internet connection first.

Something I just noticed, for you people who are buying at Dell.com, look at the rebate form. At the bottom it says, "Rebate available to tigerdirect.com customers only." Is there another rebate not for tigerdirect?

Edit: Stupid question. I missed the middle of the thread.

With the 10% off coupon and the 50% off shipping (I went for next-day shipping, it was only $3 more than standard ground), it will be $37 AR shipped. Not bad at all.

You installed this in a desktop? Or was it a laptop?

i think wht nowatzki was saying is that you should install onto the desktop that has the internet connection first because that computer sets the frequency channel for ad hoc/peer-to-peer communication.

the tiger direct rebate was taken off tigerdirect.com, try getting the rebate from usr, which doesn't specify the purchase location requirement...

Just to update everyone, Check Availability means its out of stock. I called today and they had 251 on back order. The sales rep said he doesn't beleive they will get that many in before the rebate expires. I hope so because I would like to order one but right now I decide to keep shopping.

Just got mine and installed on it on my Win2 Dell Latitude laptop and kept crashing (blue screen) everytime I insert it into the pcmpcia card. Anyone know what's up with this. Tech support ain't open on the weekend! It sucks.

I'm running W2k on a Latitutide laptop. I think I mentioned in my previous post. It has TI PCI-1225 pc card controller not sure if this has anything to do with or not. The second I plug it in, I get a blue saying something about memory. It reboot so fast after that, I can't get any valuable information from it.

It recognize the very first time I plugged in but shortly after that I can't do a complete boot up without crashing.

Try putting the card into the slot before turning it on. That's what I've been doing from the beginning and the laptop one's work great. I got in on the Belkin wireless router deal and I haven't looked back since.

Tried that as well. It appears there is some kind hardware conflict with the laptop. Sorry, I didn't mean to turn this into a TS thread. Been very anxious to this working especially with this deal thing.

Try uninstalling all your network stuff then shutdown and stick the card in. I had some major problems with a NIC when I was continually changing out multiple cards into the same machine.
