Runs just fine for me @ 1024 x 768 x 32 & 1280 x 1024 x 32 with normal details. 1600 x 1200 is a bit choppy on a Geforce2 GTS-V clocked at 220/350 (GF3 is out for RMA ) and a Duron 1Ghz running 10x115 FSB (it's actually a dual system but that has no effect on UT 2003.

any of you having trouble and running XP This ought to help alot.

and yes Battlefield 1942 IS better !!

You can only do so much for the FPS genre. Nicer visuals keep me entertained for a while, and the adrenaline was a nice touch, but nothing terribly innovative. I just feel like I'm playing a prettier version of the original UT, not a sequel. I wonder how Doom 3 will be.

For those of you with VooDoo cards: There'll be a patch soon as VD compatability was accidentally broken in the Demo. Keep an eye on www.fasterfiles.com for it.

You'll also need DIRECTX 8.1B instead of the "A" version as will those with other cards without hardware T&L.

Does anyone know how much of an improvement I will get if I upgrade from a Geforce GTS-V to a Radeon 8500 or Geforce 4200?

I've seen various benchmark comparisons, but I'm trying to understand how fps translates into a performance improvement. (ie graphics become noticeably better, game becomes very smooth, etc)

In case it matters, I have an Duron 945 Mhz and 256 Megs Ram.

There isn't necessarily anything wrong with your video card. It could be a driver issue or an issue with the demo that may be fixed. That said, I would still get a new video card if I was you. gf4 mx's are not good. Not good at all.

Well, it may be true that the mx runs ut2k3 fine at 800x600. To be honest, its more principal than anything else. The gf4's mx's are overpriced and easily beat out by plenty of less expensive cards. I suppose if someone already has one it may not be worth getting something else, but still. There are virtually no good reasons to buy one.

On my P4 1.6Ghz @ 2.0Ghz with 333Mhz DDR(it's actually DDR400 XMS3200 but I need a new powersupply or something to run the RAM higher since the CPU isn't getting enough juice to go past 2.0 ) and Ti4200, it's unplayable past 1024x768 with the settings maxed out...

LOL...time to upgrade again =)
