V3 2k or Geforce MX?

V3 2000 PCI 16mb ~$60 shipped
Geforce MX 32mb ~$120 shipped

which one you prefer? thank you.

I have just ordered a MX so I`m biased,but you might as well get the latest type.

V3 2000 PCI 16mb ---- 3490 3DMarks max with 533@893 and PC100 128mb

with these data, i think i have more reasons to choose Geforce MX (even i'm with a really tight budget). a 27% 3D performance increase!

Better drivers, true AGP support, 32 bit colour, large textures, true tri-linear mip-mapping, T&L, GPU.

There is just no choice really.

AHHHHHHHHHH 3DMark scores mean absolutely nothing. That aside, the MX is much faster in REAL benchmarks. Go with that.

These benchmarks don't mean sh|t. What you have to read up on is real benchmarks, like one's done with Quake 3. The Voodoo3 doesn't even come close to the GeForce MX. Plus, the GeForce MX takes T&L processing off the CPU, which can be a great benefit if your processor is of a lower clock speed.

Don't even think about the Voodoo 3. I highly recommend the MX.

3d mark 2000 is heavily t&l biased, it's like compairing apples and oranges using something that's biased against apples.

Which one you pick mostly depends on what games you play, do you play Q3 or UT? Do you play MDK2? What about Deus Ex? If you play UT and Deus Ex allot, then get the V3. If you play Q3 and MDK2 allot, get the MX.

If you've got $120, get the MX, if you've got $60, get the V3, or wait a month and get the MX.

Generally speaking the GF mx is a lot better.
However what games do you play? Because if you still play a lot of older games than the v3 is probably best. Also if youy heavaly into Unreal Tournament, you might be better of with the v3.

What system do you intend to run it in? Because if your system is already aging(pre Pentium3/ Athlon), your CPU might be the bottleneck and the higher speed of the GF mx won`t matter to you.

I'd go MX even for a heavy UT gamer.
The V3 has too many limitations IMO, 16 vs 32 bit color is a big difference these days, and even T&L is starting to show real benefits in some games, as is large textures.

If you're a 'hardcore gamer' (whatever that means...), then get the GeForceMX. Otherwise take the V3 and you get excellent 2D output. Though Duke Nukem Forever will run 10x better on my V3 than on any other GeForce... (whatever that means...)

1. i'm not even close to a "hardcore" game player (10% gaming?)
2. but for my spare time, i like to play counterstrike or diablo 2
3. and if i spend $60 more and be totally amazed over V3 :Q, i would probably invest
4. my system would be something like P3 800@600e with 128mb
