What does WHQL get you? ATIs Cat 3.2s are WHQL certified and they hard lock the OS in half-life and all its mods.

WHQL is a nice gimick but it doesnt appear it really means much.

We are talking Nvidia not ATi drivers remember .

WHQL just means they have been tested and approved by Microsoft.

My 5800 ultra 3dmark3003 score went from 5272 to 5528. This is on performance mode without any other tweaking.

I have an MSI 4200 128 mb.
When I installed 44.03 drivers XP PRO said these drivers are not certified.
I installed them anyway.
My framerates in BF 1942 are about the same but I have the drivers set to quality.
The graphics appear sharper and the game seems to run smoother.
YMMV.

hey, i still got AA prob with the new driver ;(
in some games it was not anti aliased....
for example, in nvidia gothic chappel demo.
not only that, otehr games such as unreal 1 also get no AA even though AA is enabled 4x.
im using geforce4 ti 4200, win2K sp3, Dx9.0a

Installed in the main rig (P4MG) below.
went from 12,803 (43.51 drvs) to 13,109 in 3D Mark 2001 at default 1024x768/Performance/no AA or AF/no texture sharpening.
Games seem to play the same both D3D and OpenGL.

I recently checked Windows Update and I see 44.03 in the driver updates section. I already have 44.03 from the nvidia website. Are they the same drivers? Which is better?

Windows update is usually way behind with driver releases so it's probably the same drivers.

Same results here. And graphics do look sharper, at least to me.

What about the horrible bugs that were in the pulled NF2 2.4x drivers? They were WHQL'd.

WHQL is only testing in certain aspects, but it's mainly just another avenue for MS to squeeze more cash out of devs. Means nothing, it does
