VAIO screen suddenly shrunk - how to fix!?

One of our field guys just called with this problem...he was running low on battery power, and so he shut it down...upon rebooting with the AC plugged in, his screen is now much smaller...

How do I tell him to fix this?

Try looking into the bios and turning on the option for screen expansion.

Is his resolution setting correct?

Maybe his "Centred Output" setting is turned on and his resolution is set to lower than default....

Naruto, I don't see that option anywhere in the bios

It's stuck on "4 bit" color, and it won't let me change the resolution.....

In safe mode, I have 16 bit color, but only 640X480....the default res is 1024x768, but I can't select that in safe or normal mode...

and the screen is still smaller than it should be....there is a black band around everything that's about an inch and a half, which makes the screen considerably smaller than it should be....the full screen is there, it's just shrunken down...

ok, hitting FN-F put the display back to full screen, but I can't change the resolution or the color depth

Reboot windows, hit f8 or whatever the modifier is, and "boot in vga mode"
Reboot after that, and you should be set
