You just defined a foundation of a Online Forum.

If people had no problems, they wouldn't exist.

No One goes online to rave about how great things are. Most people find these forums when they have PC issues (Car issues or relationship issues in other forums).

It's simply the nature of the beast. if there was no problems, there would be no internet forums.

So you need to take what you said with a grain of salt. You cant' just go to a forum and assume "ohh look, everyone is posting issues....this much suck".

Not at all, you are forgetting about MILLIONs of people that have NO issues and simply don't even care/know such forum exists.

I just said that on page two. It's just funny to see people trying to declare their superiority over the teeming millions by not buying into a holiday.

The internet is the sanctuary of the misfits. Most normal people would take a look at this discussion, realize it's a waste of time, and close the webpage. Everyone's bitter here.

The thing to me about the whole made up holiday/consumerism bs argument is that when all her co-workers are getting something, and she's the only one who's not, there's GOT to be a small percentage of jealousy running through her brain. Women are wired that way. SO even though they say they don't buy into Valentine's day, it's always the thought and action that counts. Most men who don't buy into this and who are smart, would get their wife something anyways today, and just not address it as a Valentine's Day gift but some other made up day and would still score major points. Why go against it?

I got her a dozen red roses, a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine. And later I will go take her to pound town.

I bought my wife flowers last week simply because she was having a bad day (no it wasn't my fault). I don't need a special holiday to show her that I love and appreciate her. She also feels the same way.

So yeah, if your relationship's happiness revolves around what you got her for Valentines Day then yeah by all means get her something. I personally think that's just messed up though.

for those people using proflowers or 1800flowers...why? dont they all just send the workorder out to some local florist anyways? why not reserve your flowers from the local florist itself, and then pick them up the night before or on your way back from work? I picked up two dozen red roses (one for wife, one for mom) this morning from a local florist for $25!

This obviously doesnt apply for those who are away from their wife for business or some other reason, and NEED to have the flowers delivered.

My time is more important than my money in this case and most women like having them delivered to work. We both work in downtown Indy and honestly I'm not sure if a local florist would be the much cheaper. Plus, I like to see pictures of what I am ordering.

You're challenging for the wrong reason, and thus, you'll never have a long relationship unless you find that 1% of women (assuming we're talking women here) who truly do not buy into it. A man can "not" buy into it all he wants, but it's not the man we're talking about here, it's a woman, and that's a whole other ball game. Like I said, you can denounce V day all you want, but if your woman doesn't, even if she claims to, good luck. Things are expected on anniversaries too. I suppose you don't buy into those either? I am not saying I agree with it (I hate Christmas), I'm just speaking realistically. Considering I'm on year 18 marriage of a 20 year relationship, I think I have at least some knowledge of the subject.

Two thoughts here:

A) In my experience, the number is a lot higher than 1%, but then again I spend a lot of time around research scientists, who are a little different breed.

B) You're assuming Platypus' SO is a woman. I believe you to be wrong.

i didn't wanna do roses because they are so normal and expected. she sure as shit didn't expect her flowers to look that shitty though.

i've contacted proflowers via customer support contact us on the site, and if i don't hear anything by the end of the work day i'm going to be calling them up when i get home to complain. that is unacceptable.

Similar post was on reddit just yesterday. Because they contract local florists, crap like this happens often.

Call and they should be able to give you full refund as they do this often. Don't settle for their initial '$10 refund' or '50% store credit'.

Best of luck. I never use those websites. Always best to google a local florist and have them deliver.

If the women getting nothing at work today are anything like the guys here, they're busy telling the ones who got flowers how they're just a victim of mass consumerism.

Take me down little Susie, take me down
I know you think you're the Queen of the Underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flower by the US mail
Say it with dead flowers at my wedding
And I won't forget to put roses on your grave
No I won't forget to put roses on your grave

Wow that looks pretty bad that they'd even bother delivering that. Tracking shows wife's flowers delivered. No confirmation from the wife. Waiting for the result.
