just a warning... if you can buy and deliver the roses yourself, then do it. The 2 times i've tried having them delivered on Valentine's day, they never made it. Once was a local florist, and another was thru 1800flowers. It really sucks when the flowers don't get delivered, b/c your girl will think you forgot, when you really didn't.

I would always hand-deliver roses if I could, but long distance prevents that on V-day. I have ordered from Proflowers.com several times before, and have been nothing but stunned by the quality of roses. It is a first-class operation, and the gf loved them Did you guys actually follow the link for 20% off for Mastercard or just use a MC when you checked out?

Last year, I ordered 2 dozens premium roses from Proflowers.com for $130 to be delivered to my girlfriend on Valentine's. On the morning of Valentine's, I received an email stating that they couldn't meet the delivery date because their roses weren't fresh, not up to their quality standards that day.

Translate: they freaking ran out of those particular roses.

Instead, they offered to send my girlfriend a dozen red roses and deliver my order the following day.

Well, my gf received the red roses alright. They weren't fresh at all. Kinda wilted.

Man, did I look bad.

So this year, I'll have the local florist deliver em. Any good deals? Money's kinda tight. lol

If you guys wanna modify your Proflowers.com order, make sure you still have the discount price. I modified the card meesage of the order that I placed on 01/30/02. After modifying the orde, the 20% discount was gone and not shown on the order anymore. Call proflowers and they promised to refund me the difference.

They're not. Most local retailers will give you a dozen long stems for $25 or less. Some even do free to $5 delivery. I've always found internet roses a ripoff because they're never fresh. The last threee times I ordered from Kabloom I got a free replacement set sent back because the flowers were wilted when we got them.

Anyway, two florists near my house have fancy long stem boquets w/ vase and candy for $21.99 + $5 delivery. I'm going local for this one

I received my flowers today from Kabloom.com

- they were delivered today by 3pm as promised
- the roses look great, especially for $30
- they sent the wrong vase - dammit, now I've got to go out and buy a new one
- after about 5 minutes on hold they offered to ship me a new one but I said that was pointless because what am I going to do with these roses until then? So they refunded my money for the vase. I'm off to go buy a new one before my girlfriend gets home.

I live in the DC area and the florists close to me were charging $70 for a dozen roses with vase just last week.

 

Here in Ann Arbor, MI a dozen roses @ a flower store today were $69.99. ONE LONG STEM ROSE was $6.99!!! I was fed up w/the price gouging, so I got my girlfriend 10 red tulips and wrote her a cute letter and I'll give 'em to her tomorrow.

That was the way to go for me!
