EDIT:

1/30: wfay - Thanks for the heads up on PCFlowers.com. You're right. The two for one is now dead. That's a shame cuz I thought it was the best deal of the bunch. I've edited their info to reflect the change.

1/30: Uconn411 - Great find. I completely forgot about Costco. I've added their info. A good choice at the last minute, too, if you've got one near you.

1/30: Steve - Thanks. I originally considered posting the 20% off info, but chose not to. I've added it now.

1/31: 1800Victors.com dropped their price by $10. Updated.

1/31: 1800Victors.com messing with my head. Updated.

1/31: GooberedUp - Thank you. Added info.

2/2: Updated.

2/5: Updated.

Careful of 800-Victors.

Ordered some red roses for the wife last year.... they were terrible!!

The roses looked old and had brown all around the edges of the pedals.... called to complain and they did nothing.

Do what I do. Buy like 2 or 3 roses and surround them with a bunch of other very nice flowers and she'll love them. ::grins::

Much less expensive and looks nicer (in my opinion)

PCFlowers is also problematic---twice I've ordered and had them miss by several weeks the delivery date; the second time they wouldn't credit me until they "got an email back from their vendor". I had to have my cc void the transaction. Won't do business with them again.:disgust:

I wouldn't bother with any of these online flower places period. The reason is because you are, for the most part, relying on your local Fedex or UPS delivery guy to not be an idiot... and that, sometimes, isn't the case.

Case in point... I ordered some roses as a get well present for someone close to me. I was at the person's house when they were supposed to receive it from Fedex and ended up waiting all afternoon. Eventually, I went outside and the stupid Fedex guy ended up just leaving the package outside the door without ever knocking. I KNOW he never knocked because there were several people at the house all day and no one heard a thing. And since it was smack in the middle of summer, those flowers pretty much ended up being cooked considering they were probably out there for a few hours.

What was 1-800-flower's solution to this? "Well, on your next purchase, we'll give you 10% off!" Although I appreciated the effort on their behalf for trying to make the situation better, but it really didn't help the fact that those flowers didn't get to where they were supposed to on the day I wanted them to get there... AND in good condition. What I'm saying is, the moment was lost already. And I don't know about you guys, but Valentine's Day is the LAST day I want THE moment to be missed...

Plus, why in the world would I order from them again if this already happened? They gave me no guarantee that this wouldn't happen again... probably because they can't!

Just a head's up. Not trying to thread crap at all. Hope you guys find the info helpful.

Some of these companies ship via fedex like proflowers, right? Others deliver like florists. I mean a fedex box is romantic and all, but.....

Anyone know which is which?

Although it comes in a Fedex box, when it is delivered timely and correctly, the service is actually quite nice because the flowers are packaged very nicely inside. In that case, the outside box is not an issue. But... that's assuming it's delivered timely and correctly in the first place.

Don't want your girl to be the only one without flowers on V-day... hehe.

djkball: Don't even think about trying that. Women don't like flowers any more than men do. Women also couldn't care less if you show up at their office on V-Day with some flowers and a big smooch. What's important to women is that you get screwed. They know how important logic is to us and they want to know that we love them so much that we're willing to do irrational, absurd, and careless things to prove it.

My advice: Find the florist in town known for charging the most outlandish prices (ask a female friend - she'll give you the name). Try to get a traffic ticket on the way there, see if you can get your car towed while your there and then get mugged and have your wallet stolen just after paying for the absurdly priced weeds (don't get red b.t.w., they're not expensive enough). Get a job at the burger shop next door to earn enough money to take a taxi back home. Then, if she asks about your car, tell her what happened as if it's no big deal because at least you got the flowers. Trust me, it'll work like a champ.

For those living in NYC, you can get one long stem rose individually wrapped for only $2.00 (a dozen would only cost $24.00.) in those Korean deli's/mini marts. These delis are in queens, manhattan, bronx, and in brooklyn. You can see them placed outside in those green buckets. The roses appear to be the same quality as the ones I've seen in flower shops, but I'm not a flower expert

I prefer to deal locally. This way I have a store I can walk into and give a ration to if they blow my order.

Plus I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses.

Last valentines I paid $60 for a dozen rozes, with fillers, in a beautiful glass vase delivered. Awesome service, nice price, and they're the people I deal with regularly nowadays.
