I also prefer local, it's roughly $10 more than ordering online but they personally deliver the flowers (no UPS, FedEx, Airbone, USPS or other courier) ... you can usually see the flowers at their retail shop so you know exactly what they look like in real life. Plus a company like 1-800-FLOWERS can afford to lose a few dozen customers but a local business will usually offer the better service and higher quality product.

Don't forget about Costco. Here is the link. Go to Valentines and click on Roses, and there are ROSExpress 1-Dozen Red Premium Roses for $39.99.

Don't use a courier based flower service if the date of delivery is crucial (i.e. V-day). These are usually flown in from central/south america and can easily miss your scheduled date, causing major emotional pain for both you and your recipient. Most will give you your money back if the delivery date is wrong, but what good does that do when it's 7pm on V-day with no flowers?

Ive had good luck so far with these online and 800 flower peeps....(knocks on wood).

A tip for you poor angelenos.....I used to wake up 5:00am and drive down to the flowermart in downtown. 25 long stem LARGE roses (with thorns) for $24.99. I used to have a thorn stripper and just strip them down and give them to my g/f in a vase. Looks very nice having 25 roses and even better if you get 50. Just too lazy and tired to do so now....

Like allofushere, I too had problems with PCFlowers.

Last Year...
I ordered 2 weeks prior to Valentines day.
I assume everything was set.
On Valetines day, the flowers were delivered.
The were packed in ice packs.
They were black (Frozen) and some of the bulbs were damaged. :disgust:
When they thawed, they took one last breath and died.
My wifes coworkers had a good laugh and my wife almost died of embarrasement.
She made me promise to never send her flowers from an online vendor.

I have a heck of a tiime getting my $$ back from PCFlowers.
First I was told that I would get a 100% refund.
I noticed after 2 weeks that I had not received a credit.
I called to complain and was told that I had to ship the "Entire Contents' back.
I explained that two weeks earlier, I had been told that they would provide a refund. :Q
So My wife immediately disposed of the flowers.

I then had to dispute this with my credit card company.

Don't make the same mistake I did.
Don't buy from !!!! :disgust: :|

Great deals. Anyone know of any other places local for southern Orange County? I know in LA, there's a place called Amar's or something that charges $35 for Valentine's Day roses. If you really want to know the place, PM me and i'll look for my receipt from last year.

i too have ordered from proflowers.com. the roses came in a pretty good shape and they stayed fresh for quite long.

regarding the info for 20% coupon when using mastercard, i did a search but could not find anything. eventually, i went to mastercard website. basically, you have to register with mastercard.com. then go to the list of merchants. orders must be placed using the link of proflowers.com from that page.

i hope this helps other people taking advantage of this deal from proflowers/mastercard...

<< Some of these companies ship via fedex like proflowers, right? Others deliver like florists. I mean a fedex box is romantic and all, but.....

Anyone know which is which?
>>

I was wondering the same thing. I know most the flowershops I've seen work with either 800 or online flower companies. Which sites send their orders to local shops for delivery?

Thanks for the post! It saves me hundreds dollars coz I at least have 3 girls to give roses on V-day.

<< For those living in NYC, you can get one long stem rose individually wrapped for only $2.00 (a dozen would only cost $24.00.) in those Korean deli's/mini marts. These delis are in queens, manhattan, bronx, and in brooklyn. You can see them placed outside in those green buckets. The roses appear to be the same quality as the ones I've seen in flower shops, but I'm not a flower expert >>

I don't agree. The flowers from local deli usally are the ones professional floral stores don't want. These roses are smaill-bulbs, very short-stemmed, and the color is not as freshy as the ones from pro floral stores. I'd rather spend a little more than get my admired girls look down on me with the comment, "Great! You got me these roses from the Korean deli, right? Why don't you buy me some kimchi too?"

1800Victors.com just dropped their price by $10.

EDIT: Yeah....with a catch. No delivery for these cheaper roses between 2/1 and 2/14. BAH! Worthless.

I've used proflowers on a couple of occasions, and been very happy. One time they accidentally included an extra dozen roses; the recipient was VERY happy with that.

They've always been on-time, and the flowers have been in great condition.

still shows the old price for me.

When you order before midnight, January 31st, one-dozen long stem roses are just $39.95 + $7.95 (Shipping & Hadling)

Lock in this low price BECAUSE PRICES WILL GO UP NEXT WEEK!

I dunno bout you guys, but delivered flowers have never worked for me...well, I was always disappointed in the quality of the petals, etc...

But Costco has their dirt cheap prices on Roses even on V-Day...if you go in the morning, you can just stroll up and pick up a dozen for $15.00 I think. In fact, you can even think about buying them a day or two earlier and saving them in your fridge.

If you buy roses for Valentine's Day you are nuts. ROses are usually like $1 a piece, but the month or so before V-Day they get jacked up to like $4 each just for the stupid Holiday. My wife has told me she would be upset if I ever got her Roses for Valentine's Day because I'd jsut be wasting money and she'd rather have a nce dinner or something at a reasonable price.
