Deal is dead.

They will knock the price down to $39.99 for the free chocolates, but you can't get the vase. You have your choice between the vase and the chocolates, not both for that price. Just talked to CS and that is what they told me.

A question for the guys with gf's not living with them...

Where do you have these delivered? Your place, then you deliver them OR have them delivered to her place?

Best I think is have them delivered to her work so there's more likely to be someone there to sign for them.

Before I got married, I surprised the future Mrs. with a dozen roses (that I picked up for $9.99 on sale): and expressed the following:

"I got these as a symbol of my love for you. I'd much rather surprise you with things like roses when you don't expect them than give them to you on days when other people think they're mandatory. When you get them, it means 'I love you.' For too many people, roses on Valentine's day only mean 'it's valentine's day and I have to get you roses twice a year' For some wives, getting a dozen roses on Valentine's day only means that the husband has a good secretary who can take care of things like that for him."

I've never had to buy roses on Valentine's day since. It's a non-obligatory gift giving holiday for us (we'll go out for dinner). It may work for you too, if you try it, but you have to remember to surprise her a few times during the year. (Usually when roses are on sale!!). Just start with "honey, I've been thinking. Why should we be forced to pay inflated prices for gifts for each other just because Hallmark says so? Let's just go out to dinner this year" Grab a $25 restaurant GC from ebay for cheap, and treat her to a nice dinner. If you play your cards right: "I know you're not as shallow as other women", "my friends secretary sends the flowers"

Yeah but then you just clued her in that you're a cheap bastard--twice (no roses & GC)!

Edit: I got an e-mail from some outfit called KaBloom that has a special, a dozen mixed red, white, pink roses plus free vase for $30. Dunno how much they rape you for delivery, though.

My problem is twofold: 1) My wife lives in Toronto, so a lot of these deals don't work (US only). 2) She's a consultant who doesn't have a permanent office area at either her company's or her client's offices.

I could send it to the house, but the office would have been great.

I love the singing barbershop idea, but again, how do I wing that with her situation.

Hopefully these roses won't turn up half dead like SCSI's experience with KaBloom...

The last time i sent flowers thru FTD they arrived in good shape.. that year I got an awesome deal.. a boquet of flowers with shipping 40 bucks.. I sent it to a girl i knew online who had recently broken up with her beau.. so I surprised her by sending her the flowers.. she didnt even expect anything on that day and was complaining about how bad that day was going to be.. and then a boquet of flowers landed.

I hope my gf will have the same reaction.. why because I am not going ot be there for V-Day my friend is getting married on that day.. I too hope they arrive fresh.. I asked for 14th delivery.

This deal is back on. I just got this same offer in my e-mail. It is a referral link though, but not sure what company it's for. If someone can figure out how to get the deal by altering the links and going through ebates, that would be great!

Edit: Don't forget the coupon code for the free vase too(if it can be combined with this deal). Ebates gives 6% back if you can figure out how to do it. You can find that coupon by searching for ROSES at FW and find the thread with this deal.
