Like I said in the OP, the GOG version already includes the basic patch. You don't have to download anything unless you want the "Plus" content, or want to try a newer version before GOG has updated their bundle.So, you are fine with companies selling defective things?
Sure, it can be patched, and most things will work, but that still isn't an excuse for continuing to expect your buyers to go to some 3rd party site, and download and apply the patch.
Steam probably does too as the game almost certainly won't even launch on modern systems without it.
