The victims were leaving a mosque?
You saw the headline of the story right? "worshipers outside mosque" confounds you how? Does it matter if they were arriving or leaving, or loitering outside? Explain how.

Also part of the lede, you goddamn pedant tool: "Witnesses said the vehicle veered off the road into worshippers leaving prayers in Finsbury Park shortly after midnight."

what would make this incident terrorism?

it is a very straight forward question.
It is but I have no desire to answer it and it has nothing whatsoever to do with anything I've said in this thread. I asked if Muslims were the target, that's all.

but that isn't all you said.

in response to a statement about it being terrorists you stated "it isn't clear yet."

that is the entire reason i asked what you consider terrorism. if you can determine if it isn't clearly terrorism yet, then what is your standard or definition of terrorism?

I wasn't talking about terrorism, I was only talking about my question (I read more after posting) and said it wasn't clear if Muslims were targeted.

Buckbot needs a firmware upgrade. I thought it was just a software fix needed, but clearly something is broken in the physical model.

They really just need to bring out the next gen version already.

Why he couldn't read the headline in the link nor the lede of the story can only be chalked up to some kind of required maintenance issue.

The comments I am reading on LiveLeak and FoxNews are so GD typical of ALT RIGHT morons... It's almost comical to read their posts where they have clearly not only become what they hate... they have turned into much worse... onto the next story...

In answer to the earlier debates in this thread, as to if it is terrorism or not. It apparently is terrorism, from what the BBC website is saying.

With all the recent (and older) terrorist attacks, especially in London. Which have mainly seemed to target random innocent westerners (of the UK). I'm not surprised that sooner or later, one or more of those residents. Does an attack in the other direction.

[Speculation on my part] There is a significant chance it will turn out that the attacker, was mentally ill, and this was just the manifestation of his/her illness. I guess we will find out in time.

Whenever innocent people dies or are injured, it is sad, regardless (unless they are actual extremist terrorists or something). So this incident is just as bad, as the other terrorist attacks.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-40322960

Prime Minister Theresa May said police were treating it "as a potential terrorist attack".

Eyewitness Abdul Rahman said the driver said he wanted to "kill all Muslims".

I suspect if it hadn't occurred in the current context of terror attacks this would have been reported as a 'hate crime' rather than a terror attack.

But the line between 'hate crime' and 'terrorism' seems to me to be a fuzzy and arbitrary one anyway. Historically most crimes motivated by hatred of a group had an element of wanting to spread terror in that group in order to achieve a wider aim like keeping the group 'in their place' (e.g. lynchings in the US South or sexual attacks on women in public streets), and most political terrorism (especially when the political aim is unattainable and incoherent as in Islamism), carries a strong element of group hatred.

I kind-of think they are almost the same thing in different contexts. Racist attackers and rapists and gay-bashers and the like want to terrorise a group, and most terrorists feel hatred. Hard to stab or blow up defenseless people while feeling compassion and humanity towards them.

On top of that 'mental illness' is also a continuum and sometimes seems like a fuzzy and socially-subjective distinction [Edit - I mean, sometimes it seems quite obvious, but it's also hard not to think anyone who wants to kill people in the name of beliefs that are absurd must be 'mad'].

The media are now reporting there was only one attacker and that one person has died. I hope everyone else hit by the van recovers.

Funny how the mayor calls this incident terrorism. Didn't he say something to the effect that it's something you all need to deal with when that last terrorism incident occurred?

I don't recall him saying any such thing (who would he have been referring to by 'you', anyway?). Perhaps you should be more clear what it is you are claiming that he said, and provide actual quotes, because I have no idea what you are trying to say.

He's probably just wrong, as usual. If I had to guess, I would guess he's poorly parroting the misquote made by Trump and the alt right.
