Who is a resident of Vancouver here? Raise your hand. I may be visiting soon. What are must-do's and must-see's?

:hmm:

Downtown East Side is fun. Make sure to bring your camera.

What kind of stuff do you enjoy doing? Outdoors stuff? Eating? Shopping?

I am. You picked a good time.

There's the standard Stanley Park/Granville Island type stuff.

4th ave has some nice restaurants/shops.

Visit the beach I guess...

I don't enjoy anything, I'm boring.

Actually, on rare occasions I do like trying out a fancy restaurant, typically something ethnic. Had some of the best Thai food in Atlanta. I'm in Vancouver for a summit so I will only have half a day to check stuff out until I fly out again.

You could always leave Vancouver, that'd be pretty sweet. Oh, and make sure to talk shit about the Canucks while you're there, that's pretty popular right now.

Maybe come to the island and enjoy all the stuff for the 100 year anniversary of the Canadian Navy? I heard they're going to take one of the subs out of the Edmonton mall and bring it over to show off!

What area are you in? I'm going to assume downtown/convention centre area.

If you've only got half a day, then I'd suggest taking a quick trip around Stanley Park. Take a walk jog/along the seawall and the Coal Harbour area. Hit up downtown afterwards to get a meal. Plenty of restaurants downtown (especially sushi type joints) if you enjoy sushi. Surprisingly not too many Chinese restaurants in downtown (considering the large Chinese population) other than the higher end stuff. Gastown is also pretty decent if you're looking for something to see or restaurants to eat at.

Go visit Whalley. The hookers and blow are top-notch :sneaky:.

Take the tram car up Grouse Mountain and check out the mountain goats up top, and the view of Vancouver. Or you could go to Steveston (south Richmond) and check out the ***, shops and Fraser River. Great fish and chips.

First start doing daily prayers that its going to be a clear sky day during your visit.

Now make sure you get a window seat in plane so you can lookout for the scenic view before landing and after taking off.

Now open Google Earth and study the map and especially your 'summit' area and what's nearest point of interest to it. Check the Skytrain route etc.

At waterfront by new convention center there are Air taxi's (float planes), nice area for walk and enjoy the scenery. Also you can go for a half an hour air tour. There is a fancy restaurant 'Cardevo or something on waters'. I ate there once, its fancy I liked the food but quantity was less than what I would normally have for a breakfast. Presentation and wait was fancy not ethnic though.
I would recommend you to try hotdogs at Burrard and Robson st.

I won't recommend going to the downtown eastside. That area is crowded by tourists and shoppers in frenzy.

Don't forget to bring your camera with a full charge of battery and blank sd card.

Truth. I grew up in Richmond.

So many times almost getting t-boned by some clueless 50-something Chinese woman who can barely see over the dash of her M-Class, rolling through a stop sign.

FFS, take the bus .
