Anybody tried this one yet??

Ordered one for my new 1700XP+ due to good reports and supposed silent running. (38db) Tip drive fan intrigues me.

Very happy with my 6035D but loud!

I just ordered two to replace my Volcano 6cu+'s (rated 39db but c'mon.. this thing whines louder than my 5 year old nephew =P). All the reviews said it was cool, relatively quiet, and easy setup. Hopefully this holds true. They're going on my OEM 1800+ XPs and should arrive Thurs~Fri if Newegg ships it monday. Here's hoping my second experience with them is as good as the first, been a year since I ordered.

Just a quick recap (will update accordingly);

Athlon XP 1800+ OEM w/ Thermaltake 6Cu+ HSF - 45 normal, 50 max load.
Athlon XP 1800+ OEM w/ Vantec Aeroflow 7040 HSF - <will update when arrives>

38 dba ain't silent. 21, then you are talking. That fan is more than 50 times louder than a panaflo.

You are right, 38dba is not quiet. We will see. Has to be quieter than my Delta screaming vacuum cleaner. . Dba of 48 if I remember correctly.

I had the Vantec Aeroflow on my 1800xp. It is a nice looking heatsink\fan but was louder then what I had, so I put my old heatsink and fan back on. What is on my 1800xp now is a Thermal Integration's Dr. Thermal TI-V77L heatsink with a 80mm fan that is rated at 28 dBa, 2500 rpm, and 32 cfm. A hot glue gun works wonders to mount the 80mm fan to that heatsink.

28 dBa is a lot better than 38dBa. I did give up some heatsink performance but noise is the trade off you make. With the Vantec Aeroflow, I was getting a processor temp of 38°C. With my modified Thermal Integration's Dr. Thermal TI-V77L, I was getting a processor temp of 41°C. These temps were taken after running Prime95 program for ½hour.

The Thermal Integration's Dr. Thermal TI-V77L can be bought at Newegg.com also and is priced at $18.00. I think the stock Thermal Integration's Dr. Thermal TI-V77L will have about the same cooling performance and noise, as the Aeroflow does. The Thermal Integration's Dr. Thermal TI-V77L is about half the price also.

Also, if you are thinking about using the slower TMD fan on the Aeroflow to quiet it down, the rpm's do not read out properly on the slower TMD fan (4500 rpm, 33 dBa, 30 cfm). There also has been reported some problems with the TMD fans (Vantec said they have the problems fixed) see link: <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.overclockers.com/articles639/">

"YS Tech TMD Fan Problem?"</a>. The TMD fans are on sale at nexfan.com for $4.99@

For my money, I would go with the Thermal Integration's Dr. Thermal TI-V77L and try that first. Then if to loud, change fan.

Thanks, Jolt2 for your informative links.

Have already ordered the Vantec so I am a little limited in my options at this point.

Since I can live with the 6035 with the delta, I should be ok. Got quite a collection of HSFs going anyway so one more wont hurt too much. Picked it up for $25. Really interested in the tip drive fan.

Probably could have used my new in box Alpha Pal 6035 and done as well.

Updated...

Just a quick recap (Updated)
Athlon XP 1800+ OEM w/ Thermaltake 6Cu+ HSF - 45 normal, 50 max load.
Athlon XP 1800+ OEM w/ Vantec Aeroflow 7040 HSF - 30c normal, 36 max.

Not a bad trade what-so-ever! Not to mention even though the Vantec is rated only 1dba lower than the Thermaltake, it's significantly more quiet than the old hsf; so much so that my fiancee noticed immediately

I definately would recommend it. Yes you can hear it, but damn it's nice and cool =)

Jolt2 thanks for the hot glue idea! I was just trying to figure a way I could mount a Zalman ZM-F2 92mm fan to my A-X7. I want to run it at 5.5VDC which is 38CFM and only 20.0dBA. That is the same CFM as my Enermax 80mm adjustable at high speed but 10dBA lower in noise. This should keep my processor at around 36 to 40C I hope. Right now I am at 45 but only running the fan at 2700 RPM. The CPU fan is the only thing in my case that make noise at this time.

I have the P4 version.. it looks sweet, it's not too loud, although you CAN hear it, and it is by far the loudest thing in my system. it's not expensive and overall i'd say it's a recommended product... and despite raves on clip design, i absolutely hate the clip (for the p4 at least) i'd rather have the standard old socket designed clip.... golden orb had the best clip design ever!!!
i'd give this cooler an 8/10 cause it cools decent, not too loud, looks good, the clip is alright, and the price is right.

I like my Aeroflow. Good temps 38-42 no load to full load. Much quieter than my Volcano 5 on my PIII 733. But actually, had different comp in this X-pider case (P4 1.6 with retail HSF), and cannot hear the fan over the other 6 fans in the case... =) I would recomment the Vantec Aeroflow, and the X-pider to anyone.
