Mine arrived. Hasn't toasted (though I kept it outside the case for 4 hours before putting it in). It does do the ticking thing when you dial down below the 1/2 way mark you notice, but I can't really hear it so well with the chieftec door closed.

[EDIT]Mine came from coolerguys.com.

Just keep an eye on it and dont hook it to your CPU fan just yet. Some folks have had theirs day after a few days...

Good luck and please keep us posted.

Also, where did yours come from?

Thanks.
Rat.

Yes, please keep us updated. I'm really interested in this product mainly for the price and that you don't have to cut any wires. And I would also like to know where you got yours from. I'm thinking about getting it from Newegg. Currently its out of stock (both colors) so that must mean that a lot of people have them but seems like no one has said much about it on this forum besides this thread. I haven't been able to find much customer reviews on other forums either.

I have had mine for 3 weeks now. No problems with it. Running 2-80 MM Sunon, 1-80 Delta 80 MM 80 CFM and 1-120 MM Sunon. Mine came from www.silverbulletpc.com

Hooking it to a CPU? Mwahahahahahaha. I would forget to turn the fan up and fry my CPU that way. Makes me wonder if some of you did this and don't want to admit it.

I would highly reccomend this product based on it being sturdy build, functional use, highly sexy and the door on my Chieftech Dragon closing all the way with it installed.

I have had no buzzing, no clicking and am happy with it.

I got brave. Hooked up my 70mm 4500 rpm TMD fan (it's on my sk-6/P3 1.1 GHz 100FSB) and it seems to still be spinning fine. I don't turn it all the way down. Yeah, I feel like being adventurous.

You are the first person that I have read about that has posted that there is no problems at all.... Not even buzzing. Seems odd to me since every review I have read about this POS says they at least have the buzzing when fans are lowered...

Hope it works for you.. Good Luck.

You really think anyone is that stupid? :Q

Glad yours is working well. But even if on the lowest speed that should still cool the cpu enough. That is if one is not overclocking and has a decent heatsink. I use the slk800.

I have a replacement on the way so I'll report back with how it goes. I really want one that works properly because it is a great idea. The one I received has one channel dead and another that is only functioning partially.

Yes. What kind of dumbass would assume a product works and connect the CPU fan...

/me vows.. NEVER AGAIN!

No idea.. I do know that it can only control 1 fan... Personally, I am done with Vantec products.

The 201 is made very cheaply. I guess you get what you pay for sometimes...

101 here

I have one of those also and the idea is again great, but...

The fan controller is meant for the cpu fan and it is still working great on mine. It also shows the fans rpm and has a back lighted screen for showing that info along with the temps of 3 things, like the cpu, hard drive or video card.

Bad thing is the temp sensor isn't thin enough to fit under the cpu so Vantec suggests you place it between the heatsink and cpu, but not close to the raised cpu part. That way you'll never get an accurate reading. I tried to insert the sensor betwen the fins of my slk800 and it broke off and very easily I might add.

Included is tape to attach the sensors and if you don't use all of them you will hear a loud beep 1-3 times a day. So with my one cpu sensor broken I hear those beeps. No way to stop them acording to vantec.

Otherwise, I like it. But I had hoped to replace it with the nxp-201.

I just got mine from a portuguese shop and I'm going to hook it tomorrow with my 6 case fans (all 80/90mm fans except my CPU fan)

I'll post later my experience with this product.

Got mine late december. Really thought it would shut the fans off (didn't understand 7w...). I thought it would turn them off it I turned it all the way down. Bummer, anyone what to take this off my hands before I post in FS forums? I'd like to have a FAN BUS with blue leds...willing to trade.

I've tested mine and the only problem I found was a bit of thoughness in the 3rd dial.

I've connected all 6 fans in the Nexus with the following configuration:

- 2 80mm fan on channel 1;
- 2 80mm fan on channel 2;
- 1 80mm fan on channel 3;
- 1 90mm fan on channel 4;

It seems to be working fine, I've got the 1st and 2nd channel on Low and the other 2 set on high, gotta love the silence

Does anyone know if you can connect, say a light cathode or an led to one of these units and use the knobs as an on/off switch? I have some lights that use the 4-pin molex connector. I was thinking about using a 4-pin to 3-pin adapter and connecting it to the Nexus controller. I havn't bought the Nexus yet, so I can't try it. Has anyone tried this or know of any other way to have an on/off switch for case lighting?

If you connect it to led fans will the leds go off if you set it to low? Or will the fan just run at a slower rpm but the leds stay on no matter what?

No, the led's just dim. Yep, it stays on and runs at a lower rpm. I wish the option to turn them off was added...oh'well.

Does this hurt the led in anyway? Like lessen the life of the leds?

Anymore bad or good expierences with this fan controller?

This thing is a P.O.S. Each port makes a "Geiger counter" noise when the fan speed is reduced below a certain point. Therefore, if you have all the ports connected and wish to run all the fans at lower speeds, just imagine four little "Geiger counters" activated at the same time.........Unacceptable! Sometimes the thing doesen't even power up at all.

Unfortunately, I ordered mine before coming across this thread. I based my purchase on a few reviews from "respected websites", and the reviews never mentioned any of the problems the majority of us are experiencing. I purchased mine from SVC. They told me Vantec rushed the product to market and there were some bad batches. I can't return it for a refund without absorbing shipping fees and a 20% restocking fee. They will however, let me exchange it for another. I hope the replacement does the same thing, that way I think I'll be able to convince SVC for a refund. I now do not trust this company's product due to the numerous complaints about this thing. Vantec.........you're banned! (Seinfeld's fruit grocer episode).

I was not aware that all the rheostat fan controllers on the market do not have the capability of turning each port to an off position. I figured if you turned the knob far enough, the fan would receive 0 volts......wrong! This is a real problem in my eyes. So, I've decided to go back to the dependable, yet not conveniently adjustable, 4port/6 port fanbus that PCMods made famous. The 6 port model is much more user friendly, vs. the 4 port, due the placement of the terminal strip. Also, I much prefer a terminal strip that accepts bare leads. Plus, it is on sale for $19.99 here
