It seems there is a problem with a screw touching the PCB of the unit. Thats why their shorting out. Try insulating it with a paper washer or the like.

It always makes this electrical high pitched whine when plugged in. I put it in one of the cabinets of the desk to keep my sanity. I have done this since it was brand new. It also gets fairly warm to the touch. It's the BEFSR41 router/4-port switch.Originally posted by: RatBastrd
