Vantec stealth + case + Power supply

Hi,

This weekend I am going to buy and assemble a computer, the computer will be used for video editing and it will be on for at least 10 to 12 hours so I am looking to buy the quietest case fan available.

Case Lian Li PC-71
fan Vantec Stealth SF8025L
& for the powr supply
KWI-450WABK from Kingwin.com

any suggestions for better fan and power supply, how good is Vantec Stealth Power Supply (VAN-520)

If you want a quiet computer, you do not want 4 fans in your power supply. You want an Antec TruePower unit. They are generally regarded as being some of the quieter units on the market. Also, insted of getting the Stealth, get the ThermoFlow fan from Vantec. It has a thermal sensor that run s the fan nice and quiet when it's cool and as things heat up, the fan speeds up to move enough air to dissipate the heat from the case, and then slows back down for quiet operation.

Look to Pabst, Panaflo, and NMB for the quietest fans. I have three Stealth fans in my case, and they are not as quiet as they claim. I'm just keeping them for their RPM monitoring though.

And I'll second the Antec TruePower. These are very quiet units. Compared to my old generic PSU, it is a world of difference in the quality and noise.

The Vantec Stealth power supplies are darn good and have a manual fan control on the rear, see here. Low, high and auto are the speeds on the rear switch, on auto it's very quiet.

The Antec TruePower power supplies will probably give you a little better performance under load though, and they are always quiet. They are the best I've used, so far.

I just replaced the stock 80mm exhaust in my antec smartblue 350 with a zalman...
I can barely tell its on now. and case temps are slightly better (1ºC)
I'd say just get a well-rated psu and switch out the fans... I ran the 3-pin out of the back vent so If I wanted to I could hook it into a rheostat... but Its quiet enough already. Oh yea don't touch the big black tubes in your psu, or anything else in it. Better yet don't open it up unless you are really careful.
