They should really try to do a full cover block for this one. 295x2's VRM got toasty!

I wonder how DX12 multi adapter feature could impact the future of these dual GPU cards... effectively making them act as a single big GPU could be a game changer.

In a single card? Is this treated like SLI or a single card? Can we SLI this card.

I'm pretty sure you can't SLI an AMD card. Something about inferior drivers... :sneaky:

No but really though, the Crossfire bridge for the GPU's should be the circled chip here, if this card works like all the other dual GPU cards. Although now that I think about it, with AMD using XDMA now, I'm not so sure.

You guys completely forgot new Low-Level APIs that were designed especially with dualGPUs in mind. That will make gigantic difference.

The bracket looks like it's on backwards. Is this just an optical illusion or is there something odd going on here?

The circled chip is the PCIe switch. Previous pre-295x2 GPUs still used the PCIe switch and also had a crossfire connection on the PCB, since Hawaii and XDMA they're all through PCIe. So, I guess you could say it is the crossfire bridge chip now.

It'd be interesting to know how xfire works on the FuryX2 and 295X2. Does any of the traffic make it off the card, or is it all internal? If anyone has a good article on that, I'd love to see it.

Also, in addition to what Glo. said, when this card is due out in the Fall, is the same time the HTC/Valve Vive will be released to consumers. Liquid VR would further propel the utilization of this card and Crossfire setups even further.

Here's hoping to DX12/Vulkan and/or VR to give Multiple cards real full time use without needing profiles.

I believe that is correct and also note that it is only single slot. The reason for both of these is this is the dual fiji card from Project Quantum. I believe AMD said the card in Project Quantum is 9" long. Hopefully the retail version is only a dual slot and 9" long as well. I am hoping Dual Fiji has a $999-$1100 price tag.

who cares, it has 2 GPUs on it, that's all that matters. you'll get it in the case one way or another

I'm not sure if it is actually on backwards, I thought the same thing when I first saw it. I lightened in up a bit and it looks like it is just the angle the photo was taken at.

Although now that I look at it again I can't get to not look backwards...

Haha, but that happened in 2015!

I think I figured it out. You can see the upper vents on the bracket, but they don't look like cooling vents. Just imagine them as so, and the outputs are on the first slot. There is a reflection at the very "bottom" (when looking at this image) of the bracket, that makes it look like something is attached there. And you can't see it very well in the image but at the very top the PCB goes past the edge of the bracket.

Its not backwards, its the reflection on the GPU side of the bracket that is messing with your eyes.

So you can have two of these in your system now?
Will DX12 change that and allow a greater number of GPUs in one system? Imagine running 4X FuryX2 = 8 Fury chips. Each card dumping 450W out of the case and you just need 4 x 120mm fans - my cheapo case can have 6 of those.
That would be 2kW heck of a system.
