Another game where 1920+mhz GTX1070 stomped 1342mhz 980ti in 1080p. Wheres that dude here that keep shouting 980ti is better than GTX1070 and said GTX1070 is a lousy 70 series by nvidia?
Don't forget as we progress to the future more demanding games, GTX1070 would not be 1440p anymore can drop to 1080p card, where 980ti is just gonna be stomped even more.

But 1987MHz is basically close to max overclock for a 1070, the best ones get to around 2100MHz which is 5% faster.

1342MHz is nowhere near where 980 Ti can reach considering the kingpin cards can hit 1600MHz+ on air.

Well Vega 64 is definitely spanking the 1080, so I guess that confirms Vega has something left under the hood as far as performance goes in general...

I have no doubt Vega benefits (more) from a real ground-up DX12/Vulkan engine. But the question remains how many extra man hours for Vega specific optimisations to squeeze out all the performance?

Probably an unfair question though, since:
1) nV has probably paid everyone to optimise for them already.
2) It's not like AMD has stopped making GPUs, and all future products should benefit from Vega optimisations also..

Just picked Wolfenstein up today. Looks pretty fun.

Eh not quite. Had a Kingpin 980 Ti for a bit, 1512MHz was the best I could manage, though the memory was highly overclockable. 1600MHz would definitely require a block.

I would say the average custom 980 Ti should be capable of sustaining 1450MHz on air with a custom curve and a case that has decent airflow. Had a SC 980 Ti that clocked at about 1467MHz and a classified that clocked 1480MHz. At that speed, the Ti will definitely trade blows and edge out a 1070 in older DX11 games and maybe newer ones. DX12 is a different story, 1070 arch is obviously much more capable.

Although I'm not surprised with the Vega results (they're excellent) what's awesome is how well this game runs in general on most cards. Some driver work may be needed for the older cards but in general this game (like Doom) looks and runs amazingly well. I know it's not fair but compare a game like this and then look at PUBG and how awful it looks and performs. You can see the budget behind this game Bethesda/ID was very smart to scoop up that Crytek talent. Tiago taking over after Carmack left worked out very well.

I was thinking why Computerbase did only test Async compute on GTX1080? Now that Note says it but We have to wait new Bench until next week because of Nvidia driver.

I did some tests of my own if anyone is interested (I use spicy wallpapers-sorry ).

Wolfenstein II 1920x1080 High 7950 @1.1Ghz CORE i7-860 @4GHz - 55fps

Wolfenstein II 1920X1080 mein leben GTX 970 @1.5Ghz CORE i7-860 @4GHz - 52fps

Wolfenstein II 1920X1080 Ultra GTX 970 @1.5Ghz CORE i7-860 @4GHz - 69fps

Wolfenstein II 1920X1080 mein leben GTX 1070 @2Ghz CORE i5-2500k @4.8Ghz - 118fps

No need to get clickbaited however. Here is the interesting stuff.

Some related info:

All benchmarks done with OCAT because....Vulkan!

I only used straight presets, without fiddling with anything else.

My runs are 7mins+ long with lots of fighting. So more difficult for all systems to produce smooth graphs.

The 7950 cannot do higher than high, which is only the third higher preset, out of six total presets. The game is significantly heavier compared to old blood, but it looks significantly better. IMO the High preset of TNC looks better than the Ultra of the Old Blood.

MSI Afterburner, once more brings a performance hit for the Radeon card. This time only 5%, instead of the 50% it brought on ΤΟΒ. I still tested without MSI Afterburner for the 7950 though. For the Geforces the impact is minimal. I tested the 970 at mein leben with and without MSI AB OSD and the result was 52.1 fps vs 52.7fps.

The 970 had quite some trouble with the mein leben preset. I would advise users to stick with Ultra for the 970. Ultra still looks awesome!

Both Ultra and Mein Leben used 4GB video ram for the 970.

The 1070 has me freaked out in this test. It's way out of proportion faster compared to the 970. OK OK different systems, I know, BUT both runs showed 98-99% gpu usage, so the results should not be too far off. In any case we are talking about reaching 226% of the performance of the 970, which is not normal. Normal deltas are around 50-70% or said differently it usually reaches 150-170% of the 970.

Maybe the slow 0.5GB is doing some damage here, but I have seen other games reaching 4GBs and the 970 keeping a straight performance. Granted not all 4GB usage readings are the same. The 1070 did reach 5.3GBs of video ram usage, which could show that the 970 would have some trouble with 3.5+0.5.

Overall good game with a great technical effort.

How do you guys enable FPS counter in this game? I tried via steam settings and nothing showed up. This game seems to be quite well-threaded and on my workstation I barely see any single core exceed 5% utilization. This site did some core count benchmarks but I can't understand it - http://gamegpu.com/action-/-fps-/-tps/wolfenstein-ii-the-new-colossus-test-gpu-cpu

In the game options you can enable performance metrics. There's a bunch of different levels of detail, starting with just FPS.

Can someone tell me why we have 3 threads on this one game?

Because there was a trolling/flaming thread and this one is a reaction on it.

Sad but true.

We should stay on original/first thread created by Carfax83.

Anyone have a good objection to locking 2 of the 3 and continuing on with just 1 thread?

I am so going to get that game.
I could not resist to watch a youtube walkthrough, skip to the middle and watch for a minute or two and the storyline is not what one would expect.

Anyone else getting terrible performance using a Fury x @1080p with high settings? With high settings, I can't even maintain 60fps.

I wouldn't count the chickens just yet for this title. There are many more patches and drivers to come.
Primitive Shaders are not enabled nor working from either idtech 6 or AMD Drivers.
Although RPM is enabled from idtech 6 it's not enabled in AMD Drivers Yet.

All we have is Async Compute from the beta patch and it's only with AMD 17.10.3 but disabled for Nvidia 388.13.

No offense, but I think that's a silly justification for the poor performance. I think that because the game is released and I've already spent my hard earned money on it, as have many others. I shouldn't have to wait for patches to make the game playable, or have decent performance, that may or may never come.

I guess what I'm saying is that if those graphical features and performance patches hat you mentioned weren't ready by the scheduled release date, maybe they should've delayed the game until they were implemented.

Just because you are unlucky doesn't mean that the game has performance issues,it runs great for a huge range of hardware.
It has several major issues but performance is not one of them.
