Vasilopita - Anyone everyone done this?

So I'm not one to typically believe in different "superstitions", but this past year I participated in the Vasilopita cutting at my brother-in-law and sister's house since the whole family was over from Greece. Having never participated I had no idea what it was, how it worked, etc. Of course, being the newbie to the even I end up with the coin which means good luck to me.

At the time I didn't think anything of it, but now I look back and realize how much good luck I have had the past year.

1. New job (huge pay raise, great company, great location, tons of room for growth)
2. Bought a new house and remodeled it

Ok, that's enough bragging for me.

I don't believe in superstitions, but I do believe in coincidence and people linking things up to make things seem "superstitious".

You know... the person that cuts the bread pretty much always gets the coin... then they shove it back in, or give it to one of the younger kids.

I would say I tend to not believe in such things, but my grandfather on my father's side is one of the luckiest people I've known. He never wins big ticket things like the lotto, but more often than not, he wins local drawings. I on the other hand, have won maybe one thing my entire life.
