What's wrong with being a nun instead of a priest?

No, the Church does not think child molesting is ok. Get your facts straight.
And do you have a problem with tradition? What's wrong with being a nun instead of a priest?
No, I have no problem with tradition, Im not even a Christian. But it seems to me that punishing some women with excommunication is extremely severe considering that the molesting priests have been getting a slap on the wrist, or not even that untill it became public.Originally posted by: Swanny

I dont have a problem with them not accepting women priests. I do have a problem with such a severe punishment when the molesters get nothing. Who has committed a greater sin?Originally posted by: AZGamer
The Catholic Church is a religion with a strong root in tradition. These women knew what would happen, and the Vatican is in the right on this one.

the punishment was for refusing to repent and to disavow their "priesthood." male priests (and the laity) may also be excommunicated/defrocked for any number of reasons, but you're (usually) given a chance to repent sincerely. as for being a cult, a billion Catholics are a pretty big cult.

What an unbelievably militant way to treat the women. How 'bout excommunicating the "holy" priests that ordained them instead???
Whats next, the raped little boys will be excommunicated?
