If you are a child molesting male, thats all right, but how dare you think a woman could be a priest. :disgust:

No, the Church does not think child molesting is ok. Get your facts straight.

And do you have a problem with tradition? What's wrong with being a nun instead of a priest?

Yep, if you're a priest and you buttboink little boys you get an all expense paid vacation to one of their retreats and when the heat has died down they bring you back and put you in charge of the showers at a Catholic school.

How dare you, if you're a woman, think you could ever be a spiritual leader. Take off those shoes, get pregnant and scrub those floors, harlot!

The catholic church (I refuse to capitalize that) is on it's last legs, it is the most disgusting organization (more like organized crime) that is allowed to exist. People are finally seeing it for what it is, an unhealthy CULT.

:disgust::| <puke>

I hope they all rot in their "hell"

No, I have no problem with tradition, Im not even a Christian. But it seems to me that punishing some women with excommunication is extremely severe considering that the molesting priests have been getting a slap on the wrist, or not even that untill it became public.

Lucky women. Now, they're free, even if a little naive.

you know... they don't have enough priests... thats why the child molesters were given a slap on the wrist... if they let women be priests, they'd probably have nearly double the number of priests so they could do the right thing and excommunicate the child molesters.

as for cults, you could easily claim that pretty much any religion is a cult. what defines when its religion and when its a cult?

The Catholic Church is a religion with a strong root in tradition. These women knew what would happen, and the Vatican is in the right on this one.

I dont have a problem with them not accepting women priests. I do have a problem with such a severe punishment when the molesters get nothing. Who has committed a greater sin?

traditionally women also didnt vote and had no rights, remember? What's wrong with tradition?
the fact that people use it to justify braindead ideas, that's what's wrong with it.

I'm in favor of these women being excommunicated.. If the Church has a policy of "no female priests", then they should be allowed to enforce that policy. (Never mind the fact that I think the Catholic church is a festering parasite on Western society, and that these women are better off belonging to some other Christian sect.) Child molesters, of course, should have their testicles shot off.

You guys really think proper punishment for a female priest is excommunication?! That is the harshest punishment in their religion!!!!

Regardless, I am glad the women are free and hope they become better than before due to this.

What an unbelievably militant way to treat the women. How 'bout excommunicating the "holy" priests that ordained them instead???

Whats next, the raped little boys will be excommunicated?

the punishment was for refusing to repent and to disavow their "priesthood."
male priests (and the laity) may also be excommunicated/defrocked for any number of reasons, but you're (usually) given a chance to repent sincerely.

as for being a cult, a billion Catholics are a pretty big cult.

So they kicked them out of the Church. Yes, it is disgusting that they have not done this to child molesting priests and the bishops who protected them, but the women also knew what they were getting themselves into.

If they renounce their actions they can be restored into the Catholic church.

There are churches that allow women to preach and lead and they are free to join them.

look here.

According to that synopsis, there are 1.03 billion catholics making up 56% of the christians. It also says 17% of the world is christian.

That means there are 1.8 billion Christians, and over 10.5 billion people in the world.

But there are only 6.241 billion people in the world.
