We are accepting suggestions and feedback on vB plugins. If you have any thoughts or advice on what we should install, please make them here.

There are no guarantees that suggestions made here will be carried out, but we are definitely listening to your feedback and will use it to help us make the best decisions possible wrt forum features.

We do already have a few plugins in mind, with the most invasive right now being that we will put censorship control in the hands of the members. Unregistered viewers will see **** while registered members will see the censored word by default. Members can choose to enable censorship for themselves.

This is also your opportunity to make feature requests. Please let us know what you want.

Instead of a reputation system you should have a "Quality Post" feature, if your post is good enough, you get a little red star (or any other symbol), all QP (quality posts) could be linked to in a sticky where people could really enjoy all of the bests posts for each of the forum categories. Threads could have a number of red stars next to them indicating how many QP the thread has and of course there would be a way to narrow down the thread to only see the quality posts.

Posts deemed for quality could be decided by moderators with a strict standard for what makes a post "quality", maybe include a flag system where people can flag posts they think deserve a red star to bring them to the moderators attention. I don't think user voted would be a good idea, it might clutter the board with too many red stars, only remarkably excellent posts should be red starred, something that truly deserves to be highlighted for the appreciation and utility of everyone.

The "Heroes Community" boards use this feature (www.heroescommunity.com) it works great and allows access to all the great content from the site in a very handy manner, also it gives emphasis to the posts, not the people who made them like a rep system. Maybe you could build on it to make it even better.

That's the feature I would like the most, please consider it

From here

These plugins look good:

- Members who have visited the forum
- Super PM (Mass PM) (for the admins of course )
- NoSpam v3.0 (maybe no more free ipods ??)
- Google AdSense Postbit Integration ($$ to help forum costs)
- FlashChat (no need for a IRC?)
- Make first pm showup (ok, it's not an addon, but I hope the first PM shows up on VB - this is one of FT's many failures )

And NO on the reputation system - people would just abuse it. For example, a troll would have a rep of -1000000, and yes they probably deserve it, but they might not like it. Also, trolls can go around giving people bad rep.

Actually a rep system would be OK if someone could only receive positive reps.

Not sure what capabilities the move to vB will add to what we have here and I don't know anything about vB plugins but here's my list of feature requests:

-Ability to delete ones own thread. Or to lock it as ghost recon88 suggested. This would allow people to correct errors like posting in the wrong forum or to pull out of sh!ty posts before a mod is forced to lock/ban the user.

-Ability to block users as has been said

-I believe it was mentioned that inline photo posting will be added. It would be nice if users had fine user level control over image viewing. People should be able to block all images if they like or display all by default or only show those that match or don't match some given filter.

-Some form of community trading / auctioning plugin to enhance the hot deals forum. Built in user feedback, ability to list items on the site. etc etc..

1) I don't think people should be able to delete their own thread (spam/abuse), but locking it would be a good idea. Or maybe a button to request the mods of the forum to delete/lock/move.

2) Yes, the ability to block users would be good. Sometimes people don't play nice..so we block them

3) If inline photo posting will be enabled, the ability to control whether one wants to see or not see inline photos is a must (people at work, etc). i'd rather not have inline posting because people will abuse it (post inappropriate things, which will give more things to monitor for the mods)

4) Heatware/ebay is probably the best answer to the feedback part. When people on other forums ask for feedback, they probably won't know anything about the feedback system on AT. Heatware is good because it's used on many forums.

Please don't employ a reputation system. It would turn AT into Overclock.net and that place is downright retarded. Everyone almost expects to get rep from something and really just ends up being one hissy fit after another.

Post reporting system.

Personal albums so we can post up our rig pics and whatnot.

Someone with low rep power cannot give anyone bad rep. You can only give positive or negative reps (called "negs") if your rep power is positive.

Or just ignore giving rep altogether. Rep points are stupid and will just be abused.
