Fudzilla let it slip that there is a launch tomorrow! Another night with not enough sleep :/

Do you know the exact time of the launch?

OT : NVIDIA is announcing their quarterly results tomorrow, after the market closes.

GK110 is a nice chip, more efficient than I thought it would be when it launched as Tesla. However it's only now with the 290X release that pricing is even in the neighborhood of "reasonable". If the rumored $699 is true that is too high should be $599. Heck I'd love to see it drop in at $549 and then see GTX 780 reference drop to $400-449 but I won't hold my breath.

No, the 780 is priced right given nearly all AIB models are OC versions of the card. However, I agree the 780Ticard should be $599, or $649 at most and then AIB's can come out with their non-reference cards for $699.

However, given that non-reference 290X's will likely cost $599 and up (possibly), then they may be confident they can sell enough cards at $699. The card that throws things off, however, is the 290 at $400. But, the 780Ti is mostly about Nvidia wanting to regain the top spot on the charts.

Will reviews be up at midnight or is it 9am tomorrow?

I thought Nvidia launches were always 6am Pacific Time, which is 9am EST.

Well it doesn't look like anything special. I mean for $700 its not worth it at all for a measly 7% percent increase in performance over the Titan.

If it cost $600 it may be decent, but as of right now I just don't see the value at all. Comes with only 3GB, the clock is not really high, at $700 its just a bad deal.

I mean Nvidia needs to stop pushing prices up, I just don't get it who is buying their cards at such extreme prices.

I feel like the 780ti will be a clear winner and by more than 7%. We'll wait and see of course but I expect 15 % better than Titan at stock minimum...

I don't necessarily think it's worth 200$ more than the GTX 780, but what can you do. It'll still be a super fast card.

If you been in the game as long as I have, you will note both NV and AMD/ATI have traded blows and crowns many times. Nvidia has been taking advantage of your wallet for far to long and it's about time they get checked. Once these AMD drivers mature, you're really going to see the power of the R9 coupled with legit aib cards with better coolers and bios.

It's been predicted AMD will take 40% marketshare with R9... That number may increase since that was predicted before the 290 dropped.

I think the market share must have been based on the 77XX/79XX/280X. I don't think anyone expected the 290 series to do so well.

The Non-Ref 290X will most likely play ball with the 780TI. The 780TI is mostly to even the playing field from what leaks we've seen so far, since the Titan sunk long time ago (Pun Intended).

Edit: I think its kind of hard for nvidia to not have the fastest or most expensive card out there.

BTW What are these so called (Fantasy) mature Nvidia Drivers D:

Max overclocks I'm expecting about 10-15% better than Titan. That memory going as high as 8ghz is really going to help it out. I would have loved to gone the SLI 780 Ti route, but Titan has really turned out to be something for me as far as compute goes, so I'll be going SLI Titans, but will not have access to SLI 24/7 as one of my Titans will be doing lots of number crunching. But when it's not...

For Titans that can go to 1.3v, I'd say 1250/6500 is pretty common. The revised GK110 will probably do 1300/7500 on average if going to 1.3v.

- 7% more power up front
- 4% increase in clocks
- 15% increase in memory bandwidth

Adds up to 10-15% better than Titans on average after max overclocks. It will be a very good gaming card for sure. Coming from a (soon to be part time SLI) Titan owner, I'm jealous of you future 780 Ti owners. At least I has VRAMs for some modded Skyrims.

The 780ti looks like it's perched to take down the 290x at 1440p or lower stock vs stock. It will probably OC well but it's hard to say how well the 290x will OC and regardless of how either card OCs it's pretty obvious that at around 1600p the 290x becomes a better performer.

Price/performance wise it's very hard to argue that the 780ti is worth the $699 nVidia is charging.

It really bothers me that nvidia is driving up card prices so much. I never thought I would see the day when a single card would cost you as much as a mid range gaming computer a few years before. But I guess if people wanna fork over 999 for a Titan, whatever.

Now that AMD has something that can go blow for blow with the best nvidia has to offer I think prices should get much better.

The 290 at $400 is obviously a killer deal. If i were buy a card today, I'm buying that but I just have personal qualms with paying more than $500 for any video card.

I think nvidia knows the the 780ti kills titan sales and perhaps they figure by adding $50 to the original 780 price, in the end because of the higher volume it will balance out their margins. Then there is the bundle. I think Nvidia is putting a lot of weight in their bundles worth. They are probably looking at it as 150$ worth of games, so a 780ti for $550 after you take out the games.

Not saying its a sound strategy, but perhaps this is part of their reasoning. But then lastly is volume. How many full fledged gk110s will they have available in the new revision? Perhaps its they priced it according to the volume they intend to sale. Thats kind of how i think it works.

If they arent selling where nvidia intends them to, they will lower prices for sure.

Halo cards are always disproportionally more expensive than their closest follow up card. The good thing this time around is that there are plenty of alternatives from both sides. I don't think there's anyone that will feel unhappy with how the graphics card scene looks after tomorrow compared to how it looked just a few weeks ago. And if you look how all cards, from the 780 and 290 up, perform in the latest games at the highest resolutions, now is not a bad time at all to invest in a new card.

Although im not too keen on buying reference cards that design nvidia have is rather sleek and to me much nicer looking than amds offerings.

It's sleek and nice, but not $700 sleek and nice.

At the end of the day, it's still a reference cooler and nVidia's industrial design isn't cheap from what I understand. That additional cost is passed onto us, the consumers. Nothing is free.

Yea I don't think i will ever pay that price. Also even though amd has the performance side I still think nvidia has an overall better performance/package when heat and noise is included. And even though the 290 comes in at a rather compelling price of 400 id rather just get a 780 because they seem to keep cooler and im currently not looking into to go all out on water cooling because thats an expense i rather not take up at this time.

Per multiple websites, NV already stated that it would be 699.99 @ 3GB - it was reported by TPU and several others. Of course, NV can change prices at the last minute to surprise everyone. IIRC the GTX 680 changed price at the last minute. Who knows, could happen again.

From the translation:

fortunate to get today's younger brother complete based GK110 core GTX780Ti, then the following no obligation for everyone to bring practical evaluation. appearance basically followed the TITAN and GTX780 style, but still a slight difference between the output side is still used DVIx2 + DP x1 + HDMI x1 test platform uses: Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel I7 4770K SAMSUNG 840EVO 120G Antec HCP1200 Apacer 2Gx2 C9 2000 CPU Turbo with automatic power saving turned on (8x-45x) First, for everyone bring default test, where we use GPU-Z and ASUS GPU-tweak record the temperature. 3D Mark 11 score X5151 Extreme Performance results 13500 3D Mark 11 3D Mark 9861 score FS FSE 3D Mark 4931 results we can see in the performance relative to the GTX TITAN and GTX780 are still significant advancements in 3D mark11 for AMD to continue to maintain the advantages of the flagship R9 290x in New 3D mark is then further narrow the gap with the R9 290x, so that comparable levels At the same time during the test run GPU maximum temperature 79 degrees, however, but also very quiet. come with furmark barbecue test, the maximum temperature of 83-84 degrees, the same fan is very quiet. Next we make a simple overclocking. First we pulled the frequency 1054 for 3D mark11 performance test results obtained P14221. then continue pulled off frequency up to 1092, but got P14200 achievements. then we put frequency stability to the rest of 1054 for testing. 3D mark 11 Extreme scores 5589 3D Mark score FS 10470 3D Mark 5288 score FSE contrast my previous post: No responsibility is not entirely AMD R9 290X test report (larger HD continuously updated) http://www.chiphell.com/thread -881612-1-1.html NV we can see that this release GTX780Ti, although the GTX 780 and GTX TITAN upgrade is not great, but also just leveled and AMD R9 290x in 3D MARK the gap, but its 4999 pricing, but give the market a huge impact.

According to him/her it is not 'significantly' faster, but mainly to just get NV back on top. So, $699 may be asking a bit too much considering the 780 launched at $649 and this card is supposed to take it's place...unless there is more to the story than is being leaked so far.

reference cards with EVGA back plates that I made a custom bios for. 120% power target and they boost to 1071 and 1097 on their own with the bios on stock volts, MSI and Galaxy, respectively. They are quite nice but I'm drawn to fully enabled chips like my 3 year old to cheese balls.
