Hi all,

I managed to get my overclock stable at 4.4ghz with 1.20v.

I get a strange glitch after a while using this board though. I used speedfan to log all the voltages and it never peaked above 1.24v all day yesterday (using prime 95, IBT, and regular surfing and gaming. Earlier today I check speedfan, the ASrock utility, and CPU-Z and it was showing 1.32v everytime it was under load. I have the bios specifically set to Offset voltage -0.10v with LLC on Auto. The bios voltage reports 1.20v when I restarted and I tested it again once I was back into windows and it never spiked back to 1.32v.

How can the max voltage just increase out of nowhere if it is not set that way in the bios?

Should of kept the gaz68ds3 . Seriously though I want to upgrade to another board but I'm having a hard time finding a reason to since it just works. You've had a few different z68 boards right? Am I missing anything by staying with the ds3 board?

I wouldn't but I am starting to think that more power phases result in lower max voltages. I have this 2500k stable at 4.4ghz with only 1.17v. I actually gave it more voltage because I thought it was too low LOL. I guess when the CPU 'breaks in' I shouldn't notice it because there is plenty of voltage for me to have any instabilities.

Honestly, all of these boards have pros and cons. I found that Gigabyte board to be a little more difficult to overclock but I noticed that it was easier to overclock when hyperthreading was disabled. I am not too happy with ASrock on a customer service standpoint. I RMAed my Llano board and they have been dragging their feet for over 2 weeks now with it.

So far I have owned:

Gigabyte GA-Z68P-DS3
Biostar Tz68a+
MSI P67A-C43
Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3

Next on my list will be an Asus I am thinking. So far the Biostar board was my favorite though. If they had a PCI Express 3.0 version I would of bought it hands down.

i have the same board and I am in the infancy of overclocking it....

What settings are you using to get 1.17v stable at 4.4ghz?

Are you using Load LIne Calibration 1? This seemed to help me with vdroop. It seems now that if I set a voltage it boots up as .02-.03v more then under load is just about perfect to what I set.

can you list your settings?

To answer your question, I would wait until you are ready to goto PCIE 3.0.

LLC auto with an offset of -0.10

LLC Auto?

Is that like using the auto turbo boost at 4.4ghz and then having it apply a -0.10 offset to the vcore?

If so my auto vcore setting for the 4.4ghz by Asrock was 1.35ghz....I set it down to 1.325ghz and then needed to set load line to 1 so that it actually ran near that....

If it isnt too much problem....can I get you to write down your settings in the bios for the OC Tweaker and Advanced CPU sections for comparison?

I think I got a really good chip though. This seems to be really low voltage for a 2500k @ 4.4ghz.

I mentioned it in another thread...

If you want to stop the tremenoud vdroop then set your line load to LIne 1....That is more solid from idle to load....LIne 2 a little worse...and etc...

Auto always seems to pick 5 from what I have seen

My Vdroop is not severe at all actually and its stable right as it is now. If it becomes more unstable I will start adjusting Vdroop. Thanks
