If they're so whimsical in their decisions on waiting and seeing what the product is like, I'm amazed these folks haven't just bought an Nvidia by now anyway. Either you're willing to wait and see what Vega is like, or just go and buy something else? Do you folks have a deadline of June 30th? Are there tax incentives?

???

If I'm thinking of buying a GPU soonish and decide to wait for Vega (eg end of June) only to then here it will be another 2 month wait for consumer Vega I would be pissed. And that is exactly what all this talk was about. Wallstreet dude got it right. The always use coded language that often is intentionally is vague. You need to read between the lines. like letters of recommendation were something positive often actually means something negative like "he always put in his full effort to reach the goals". Meaning "he tried but ultimately he sucks and never made it.".

Annoyed I can understand. Pissed? No. If anything tech makes you feel that way, I suggest getting into how immensely complex this stuff is to make (whether you know it already or not) and getting some perspective. Another month or two really isn't the end of the world, unless you're gaming on something like a HD 6970.

AMD has been falling away from the yearly product cycle for high end cards ever since Tahiti. It isn't going to change, and those who are being restless about getting their hands on a high end GPU should have got the 1080Ti in March if performance is all they cared about.

I just downgraded my 6950 with my wife's 6870 (it's a lot quieter) and I feel fine waiting to see Vega and choose my new card :>

I finally found my all around choice monitor. And it's not out till June anyway.

Looking at the AOC AG322QCX that a helpful Redditor linked. Checks all my boxes and should pair nicely with Vega even if it's only around GTX 1080 levels.

I take it you don't play AAA titles at 1440p? I had to give up my 6950 for a Fury X two years ago, but it served me well for something like four. Great card.

Despite amd obvious signaling, I didn't buy fury x on black Friday because I thought there might be a chance of a may release. When it was looking like June confirmed ok. But now amd is doing a founders edition launch to squeak into June and no one is saying anything. I should be happy about this?

Also, I waited god knows how long for Vega now. Now I wait an extra 2 months I shouldn't complain?
Why shouldn't I wait an extra couple months for Volta and 4k 144hz gsync monitors? Amd has nothing to compete with that combo...

Do you actually believe that gamer Volta is out in 4 months? That's the end of September.

I have seen your obvious agony expressed repeatedly, but do you seriously think your complaints are affecting the release timeframe?

You think GV102 will be available anytime soon? lol good luck with that. My guess is Q3/Q4 2018 for the next Titan or Ti. Maybe late Q2 2018 for a >$1500 Titan.

For everything else AMD has Vega to compete with if we're assuming 1080ti performance. That's where you can expect GV104 performance-wise IMO.

I thought the thinking was that consumer Vega was only a few weeks after FE based on comments from the AMD CEO. Assuming tail end of June launch for Vega FE, that probably means mid to late July for the consumer parts.

ahh...bumped to June? I've been looking for that one too, because last I read was May. Forgot to search for info this week. Eh, delays me too, then. No biggie.

...this means that 1600X purchase gets pushed even further...which is also fine, because still no mATX or ITX board out to my liking, or at least readily available (dedicated tiny case for this next build...which is weird, but I'm sticking to my limits, damn it! )

EDIT, ummm, when following you link, and distributors info, list of countries to buy: United States is not listed!

Is this some kind of trade thing that just now happened, which is why news for this has been scarce for me, searching in the US? :wtf: I have so, rarely seen this. (or is this the typical eBay-via-Korea purchase, that I was never aware of until well, years later?). Hey...I think I could get my buddy in Latvia to purchase one and mail it, all safe-like...but I doubt he would ever do this. lol. Probably costs 1.6x $$ there, anyway.

Essentially, if we are to literally take "over the next 2 months" based on the date she made that comment, then yeah: End of July, there will be 4 Vega cards out there. FE is still 1 month away, so that leaves another month to release 3 different cards.

Kinda nuts, really. It almost sounds like a carpet-bombing campaign; I just hope there are still "targets on the ground" by then, otherwise AMD will have been way late to the game, again.

True unless you don't want to support NVs stupid price-hiking practice. But at some point people will just be feed up with AMD. That's my point. Also that they are starting to show similar tactics as NV. If AMD is using dubious tactics for profit to I can just as well buy NV and get better performance sooner. The whole FE thing. Is this serious or is it a stupid joke against NV? Just admit you have issues and be open about it, that is the type of people that buy AMD not sleazebags.

I played Dishonored 2, and I had to go down on resolution because 1440p was too much for it even at bare minimum settings

I'm now playing only HotS while I wait for Vega :>

Well, they explicitly told you not to buy a Frontier Edition if you are into gaming because it's not meant to be played with (pun intedended). nVidia said the opposite: buy our finely crafted reference design rebranded to Founders Edition a.k.a. "100$ early adopter tax"

You, my friend, obviously have admirable patience and tolerance for lowered graphics settings

OTOH upgrading from a 3570K to a Ryzen 1600 made HotS a lot smoother, even on a 6870 :>
Hm. That's interesting. Makes me even more excited for the jump from my current C2Q Q9450 (OC'd, but still ...) to the 1600X that's (finally!) in the mail.

Fury x sucked and amd misled me on how late Vega would be to the party.
But that's OK, if I can potentially save $100 buying an amd gpu that will perform slower than the Nvidia equivalent that's good because I'm supporting amd or some crazy reason?
No. I'll buy Vega, be annoyed about it, and buy the 2080ti next. Nvidia earned their highend through hardwork. Amd gave me terrible priced fury x and extremely late Vega. If the perf/price isn't impressive coming this late to the party there is a 0% chance I will wait for whatever high end chip amd has planned.

This whole frontier edition is unreal. I seriously can't believe people are letting this slide. Founders edition and people are up in arms. Frontier edition to meet to 1h deadline and people don't bat an eye? This is the most biased look I've seen yet on this forum.

Again?

Founders Edition GTXs were meant for gaming. NV explicitly told us so.
Frontier Edition Radeons are meant for Pros, not gaming. AMD explicitly told us so.

It's not a matter of guessing or reading between lines, it's what those very companies told us while presenting those products.

Dude, I'm not expecting amd to copy cat Nvidia tactics perfectly. You have to have some creativity I think it'd be breaking something to do EXACTLY what Nvidia did. It's similar lameness if you can't see that that's great. Myself and others do. I'll be actually interested to see who picks up this gpu and isn't just following it for fun.
Just like how everyone defended fury x but no one bought it new I doubt many of you defending Vega will buy top end Vega day 1.we have few Fiji owners who bought new gpus at release and we'll have few Vega owners too. Amd at the high end is lackluster in many manners and it's only getting worse. You're welcome to close your eyes to it. I'm not. Amd has lost my trust moving past Vega.

Frontier Edition is the professional GPU name.

It has exactly the same branding(color) as Radeon Pro WX series. The thing that is differentiating professional AMD Radeon lineup from consumer is the color of the shroud. For professional AMD GPUs it is blue.

What color of the shroud has Frontier Edition?

Now get back to your post accusing everybody being biased, and look at how YOU are biased, or limited in thinking are.

Then why not put it into the professional lineup and give it a professional name. You're grasping at straws but keep going.

If a certain competitor released a prosumer gpu and then topped that performance right away with a cheaper faster gpu people would be up in arms. Who knows, maybe one day ams will strip the pro parts from the future frontier edition.
