i'm still somewhat optimistic about this launch, as well as anxious to know the fine details, but I was hoping for a bit more to digest by now.

Oh well, tomorrow.

No live streaming from Siggraph... they must really wajnt to sweep this turd under the rug. This is basically 100% confirmation that all the bad news is true, that RX Vega will struggle to compete with GTX 1080 and yet be priced higher.
#FireRaja

your "#" is asinine.

the only thing that seems clear is your first point: RX Vega will struggle to compete with 1080. No one knows anything about price, however, but if anything it will be the same.

It seems that the Hardware Canuck's guy(s) were trolling us, since there is some kind of a NDA that won't lift until tomorrow night?
So, it don't seem like they can post actual pricing (or other details) without breaking whatever they signed to attend the event.

It is alluded here: https://hothardware.com/news/amd-radeon-rx-vega-air-and-liquid-cooled-edition-pictured
We will have many more details to share with you tomorrow evening after AMD’s Capsaicin Event... Rest assured, more news is coming – soon. More disclosures will be revealed tomorrow evening and full reviews are in the works as well.

pricing schmicing, they said: "WHO SAID IT PERFORMED LESS THAN nVIDIA " etc. like, wtf are you jerks talking about?

are they comparing it to a 1070, 1080, Titan XP or what when they say that?

Also, AMD just tweeted:

So, they will do a video, just not live.

I guess they want to edit out all the booing from the audience first.

trolling is not allowed

I suspect the liquid cooled version will beat a regular GTX 1080 FE, but fall short of overclock 1080s and 1080 Ti. So it will be some kind of victory.

MSRP is standard practice.

It's what you pay for them that matters. Arguing MSRP in this instance is semantics to try and make it look like the Gsync monitor only costs $150 more. Even though MSRP difference isn't $150 to begin with. Best prices I see on pcpartpicker, for example, is $720 for the freesync and $1189 for the Gsync. $150, or even $200, is disingenuous at best.

Interesting that the one Linus showed had the word Radeon on the front of the shroud but other sites are showing the front shroud with the vega logo. Both air cooled. I've only seen the liquid edition with the vega logo

prediction: AMD will surprise everyone, releasing Vega RX at unheard of performance levels: 50% greater than 1080ti, essentially the top expected shelf at what a mature Volta could ever be. nVidia will be so embarrassed that they will close shop and JHH will sell to AMD. THe one catch here is that TDP will disappoint, bigly: achieving a surprising stable clock of 1900 mhz, on air, reference Vega will consume 550W for that beefy performance. Liquid Vega is purported to achieve an impressive 2ghz clock (a full 100% clock increase from previous generation! unheard of!) but at a likely cost of 700W...so yeah, something is fishy with Vega efficiency, but the power is nuts!

Raja will then decide that No one gets Vega, because the internet has been so annoying and he feels offended. All manufactured RX cards will then be driven out to New Mexico and dumped on the pile of buried Atari ET the Video Game cartridges, never to be used by anyone.

$500 for the base model is on the high end of reasonable if these cards are as great as AMD is pretending them to be

GTX 1080 MSRP is $499. If the base model air cooled RX Vega is $499, then it has to beat the 1080 substantially (>10%, and not just in cherry-picked titles). Otherwise it won't sell due to the much higher TDP, late arrival, and AMD's lower brand equity.

I agree unless AMD is pricing based on the current inflated GPU pricing.

In some ways it would be smart to put MSRP in line with current pricing and capture some of that, instead of letting retailers grab it.

Miners though. Have to agree that I think it's $499 for the air and $599 for the water.

What, haven't had enough rumors yet?
Here’s the breakdown in terms of pricing. Note that these figures have been spotted in the code of Newegg Vega product pages. They’re as legit as leaks can get.
  • AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Air: $499
  • AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Air Limited Edition: $549
  • AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid : $599
  • AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Limited Edition : $649 [UPDATED $649/$699]
  • AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 : Pending [UPDATED $399]

[UPDATED – 7:36 AM ET 30/7/2017] We just got word that RX Vega 56 will cost $399 and the Limited Edition liquid cooled RX Vega 64 will retail for $699 and be part of a “special bundle”. We don’t know yet what this bundle will look like. We’ve now heard similar price quotes for the entire lineup from multiple sources, which is a good sign.

The limited edition models feature a uniquely designed metallic exoskeleton with a brushed Aluminum surface that differentiates them from the standard reference cards. RX Vega 64 LE models also feature slightly higher TDPs for better sustained clock speeds.

That $399 figure...sounds too good to be true (if it actually beats a 1070).
*edit, I also didn't think they could get it down to that price point...

Also, I wonder if these are all 8GB or 4GB? I assume they must use 2 packages to get the full bandwidth?

This was also recently posted...
Supposedly, live in 5 hours.
(This is NOT AMD, however, they are supposedly there, but, AMD's event doesn't start until 6PT, so unsure what these guys are going to be streaming before AMD's actual show.)
