I'm hoping all the miners and gamers buy these up and I can get a rx 580 on the cheap. $180 or so for a 8gb version.

Am I reading that slide right? September launch, and those "packs" are $100 more than card only?

Is the liquid cooled version available without the "pack"?

Edit - Or does SEP mean something else? Standard everyday price?

If that $200 off a FreeSync monitor applies to ANY FreeSync monitor I might be tempted here.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod...UEAoKbr4kUoDN10AOr4aAjeCEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

That monitor for $499 and $499 for a Vega would be a very nice gaming combo. If Vega is truly between 1070-1080 it should run the 3440 X 1440 with FreeSync and 75Hz pretty flawlessly.

Might be the best "budget" gaming setup I can think of.

Note that the comparison charts claim an advantage over GTX 1080 in minimum FPS, but no mention of GTX 1080 Ti numbers - because we all know at this point that 1080 Ti would blow away Vega in every gaming benchmark known to man.

Better minimums than GTX 1080 - assuming it's confirmed by reliable third parties such as TechReport - could justify the $499 figure. No excuse for the liquid cooled pricing - that's 1080 Ti territory and it clearly can't compete there, with worse performance and considerably higher TDP.

"The Volta GTX 1160 (or 2060 or whatever it gets called) will be as powerful as the GTX 1080, with a TDP of 120W, and a price of probably $299-$349"
I would toast you if that actually happens (in turns of price). My fear (as a gamer) that whatever Volta they make it would be priced way above that and therefore useless. I don't know why Nvidia does not understand that above a certain price point, people stop caring about performance, it is simply unaffordable... All of the recent history from Nvidia shows they have exploited the prices greatly...

Highly questionable, since even the FuryX is shown with higher minimums.

That's true. TPU's charts don't seem to support the claim that Fury X has better minimums than GTX 1080. In fact, it has lag spikes that even the GTX 980 is spared:

So we know that these "benchmarks" are dishonest from the start.

That seems odd. It also shows the the Fury X with the better minimums than GTX 980 Ti as well (and better than GTX 1080 if they are supposed to be the same settings).

This looks as bad as people were fearing. They are essentially ignoring GTX 1080 Ti and competing with plain 1080 with not much value benefit unless you are buying with a new VRR monitor for both.

Yep AMD is in full damage control mode right now, prices are bad, the chip is expensive, so they add promotions to cover it up. Performance is bad, so they add freesync to cover it up, cards are bad (high TDP) so they spice things up with premium finished coolers.

$200 off a Freesync monitor that is already $200-300 less than a gsync. Wow that starts to add up, a lot actually.

Would really like a combo with Threadripper though.

SEP stands for Single Exit Price, not September. - Cards supposed to be out in August sometime.

The hardware packs look really good actually. $100 off a Ryzen CPU and $200 off an Ultrawide monitor? Seriously? That's $300 saved right there. This makes the cost of the card $300 instead of $600. That's pretty great IMO.

Minimum frame rates: yay?

Well, the TechReport frame times for Fallout 4 and Hitman (two of the games mentioned in the caption, if you look closely) don't back up what they are saying about Fury X at all. I won't believe these figures have any credibility until there are unbiased third-party reviews.

The packs are $100 more than card alone, at least for Vega 56 and Vega 64 air. From what I can tell, Vega 64 liquid is only available in the pack.

I have a feeling these cards will age quite well...if their anything like the last few generations of AMD cards there performance will keep getting better over the next few years. And if the Vega 56 still performs close to 1080 performance with a $399 price it will be a great bargain.
