AMD still has a huge advantage in DX12 and Vulkan, in fact the new overclocked RX 580's to 1445MHz match the 1070FE in Doom.
So I do expect Vega to win in DX12 and Vulkan titles, at least in most of them even against the 1080TI. I expect it will be about 10% faster in Vulkan and DX12 titles, about 10% slower in DX11 titles. That is my expectation.
In specific extremely optimized titles for either Nvidia or AMD I expect it to lose/win more. But on average I expect it to be about 10-15% faster in Vulkan/DX12 and about 10%-15% slower in DX11.
When Vega launches I'm hoping reviewers do a DX11 vs DX12 on all configurations (Vega w/ Intel and Vega w/ Ryzen.) If the performance lead is there on an all AMD platform I hope their marketing department really drives that point home.
Not sure where all this doom and gloom comes from, historically the more AMD has shouted about a product the more it has disappointed. Outside of 2 very targeted demo's (remember the 3 GHz locked test?) and a non turbo bench run, we saw/knew very little of Ryzen. The Lisa Su run AMD seems a lot more tight lipped when it comes to products, reading her interviews she believes their products will speak for themselves. If the rumors of Prey being the first title from Bethesda to be specifically optimized for AMD are true, I'd put my money on us seeing a joint presentation from the two companies and a paper launch for AMD to follow.
I'm thinking ConsoleLover is pretty close in thinking that big Vega beats 1080ti in DX12, and I'll take that a step further, it will show even better gains in DX12 with Ryzen platform. 15% above 1080ti on Ryzen platform, 8% above on Intel. In DX11 about 10% behind and maybe a little worst on Gameworks, but no less than 15% slower at worst case.
