The quote seems to be

"And, so we will be launching Vega across all of the market segments over the next couple of months."

The next couple of months is from now to end of July. We knew FE is mid-late June and were hoping RX Vega in July sometime. Nothing about that quote changes that.

Ah the internet.....

This is actually good news.

When She says All market segments (for Vega) I wonder how far down the chain that goes? Even a replacement for Polaris 12?

so if FE is not enthusiast gaming card... or for content creation... who's it for exactly?

(besides the guys who'll rant about 16GB HBM2)
Basically this is AMD's Titan (the ones with Full FP32 anyways). Remember, Raja made it a point to say this will run games fine!

Believe it or not.. there are people out there who just want the fastest tech available, brand image not even taken into account. If Vega FE is even ever so slightly faster than the Titan Xp, then there WILL be a fair amount of people that will purchase this thing at over $1000.

All market segments as in professional design and consumer segments for Vega in addition, to the announced deep learning FE already. She's not referring to segments of consumer gaming graphics (I assume).

Heck, we have people here that have forked over $1k+ 3-4 times in the last year because of nVidia. lol!

nuts.

Vega better has outstanding performance or absurd value being this late or it'll get decimated by Nvidia as usual.

The next couple of months is from now to end of July.

"A couple of" can mean "two" or "a few", I was told, am reading in dictionaries, and have picked up from conversations. (I am not a native English speaker.)

And now we can do the same for less performance at a later date than fellow Nvidia purchasers.

Amazing!

I'm all for the competition but unless the gaming market was totally saturated with amazing PC titles (which it's not) I could totally not justify buying a beast card, or two depending on what 2% of games that year support mGPU.

I don't care about bench numbers per say, but I do appreciate butter smooth hi-res gaming on a adaptive monitor

Yup my Fury is doing great @ 3440x1440 even in the latest games. Very glad I picked it up when it went on sale almost a year ago. Haven't seen any games that really require an upgrade or would be worth $500+.

I think Star Citizen will be the first game to really push the envelope

If they can make vega work harmoniously with ryzen such combo could push gaming to new heights and an upgrade I am willing to pursue.

Ya.... so what if we don't want to play at anything but 4K? Should we pick up Fury?

Posts like this ring hollow for me and make me really want to just pick up the 1080Ti and be done with this. But now that Volta is SOMEHOW getting closer in release date(Rumors... I don't believe Volta 2017 in any meaningful way but who knows!), man maybe the 2070 will be a month or two behind consumer vega at this point...

Volta Titan will probably launch September time frame for $1199 for those that want to spend that kind of money. Anyways we have pretty fair reason to believe we will get some substantial Vega info at Computex just fyi. Hopefully some official benchmarks, price, and release date.

At this point no it's not worth it, since prices are higher and Vega is almost out. But yes, Fury did make a great 4k card for a very long time. Obviously you won't be running "max" settings, but you wouldn't have been with any single GPU. You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between max and high settings in most games while playing them when it's very hard to even see the differences side by side in still shots.

Yeah weeks are better than months, right?
Its delayed by only 9 weeks and not by 2 month

We don't know that. All we know is that we'll see Vega cards for consumer (RX), enthusiast (FE - I see it as TITAN, a prosumer card), professional (PRO, i think WX is out of the game) & data centers (MI - Instinct) come to market in the next two months from now. Four types of products in 2 months.

The marketing department will want these products well spaced to enjoy the wide coverage of the press. We know the enthusiast cards (FE) are coming out in the second half of June.

The 2 months delay for RX is Fake News™.

PS: I just read the JPMorgan transcript and there's a chance we'll see the RX line-up in second half of June as well as FE.
Lisa Lu at JPMorgan said:
So our EPIC CPUs we’ll be launching later this month – I’m sorry, in June and our Vega GPUs also in a similar timeframe.

I think the FE was shown at the Analyst Day, a very strange thing to do at this kind of event, because AMD felt the pressure from angry fans. They even talked about the "where is Vega??" meme. And even maybe to put a brake in the stock price drop.

I think at Computex AMD will let us know that Vega RX is indeed coming in Q2, holding hands with it's big brother - FE (that's RX with double the RAM).

BS. The FE is simply launched to save face and they can say we did launch in H1. I bet it will also be a paper launch. So they clearly failed the deadlines and we can only hope it isn't due to some performance issues.

A few doesn't mean 2. In fact it almost certainly means more than 2 because else the word 2 would have been used. "Few" can easily mean 3,4 or even 5 month from now. So yeah, if I needed a GPU sonnish, I wouldn't wait anymore given this news. either performance will suck or availability will be low and you will wait another couple weeks after "launch" till you can actually buy one at a reasonable price.

1. Such showing of lack of respect.
The FE is simply launched to save face and they can say we did launch in H1. I bet it will also be a paper launch.
2. Raja clearly said "Let me be clear: FE will be in the hands of consumers by the end of June". Source, 19:50

3. How did they "clearly" fail? Vega is coming in H1 in the form of FE. LE: Cancel that. I forgot Raja said about RX in the AMA "if gaming is your primary reason for buying a GPU, I’d suggest waiting just a little while longer for the lower-priced, gaming-optimized Radeon RX Vega graphics card
A few doesn't mean 2.

I'm not an native english speaker, but my understanding is "a couple" can as well be meant as "some". That's a vague statement, the vague statement I would expect in any speech with a financial audience.

TL;DR: we just don't know when RX Vega will be on the market, exactly as before Su's statements flooding reddit and this thread atm. We have to wait for Computex to hopefully have something to discuss.

3. How did they "clearly" fail? Vega is coming in H1 in the form of FE. There's still a possibility of RX coming as well in H1 as I described in the post above. They did not deny or there's no proof that RX it's not coming in H1.

They wouldn't walk back their stated timeline if they thought that RX Vega would still come out in June. There is a 0% chance that the gaming RX Vega is released in June. They knew that this statement would be controversial and they would not have said it if on June 30th, the gaming version was also released.

As a financial professional who attends many analyst day type events (but doesn't cover tech so doesn't follow AMD), this statement is intended to convey exactly that RX Vega will released about two months from now (or it can also be interpreted as two months after FE release date, which would include August) and they view Vega FE as fulfilling their 1H17 Vega release date commitment. They are saying this in a way specifically so that analysts know not to expect any Vega revenue before June 30 but can't claim that the company failed to meet the Vega launch timing.

This is what I think as well and if this turns out to be true I will not be returning to amd highend for their next chip.

So because the company with a tiny fraction of the R&D budget of their competitor, which somehow still manages to be competitive, has a minor delay/changes up their launch order to no longer push gaming parts first, you decide to give your money to their competitor instead? Which has had the same launch priority for years? That baffles me. Do you really love monopolies, or something?

Oh, and id this is some "AMD lied to us!" schpiel, might I remind you that Nvidia has a long and well documented history of misleading customers?

If they're so whimsical in their decisions on waiting and seeing what the product is like, I'm amazed these folks haven't just bought an Nvidia by now anyway. Either you're willing to wait and see what Vega is like, or just go and buy something else? Do you folks have a deadline of June 30th? Are there tax incentives?

Don't you know the PCMR tax returns are due by then? Having recently bought an Nvidia high end card entitles you to a 15% "free market monopoly" tax break on your bitcoin, while having bought a high end AMD card recently entitles you to a GamerAid cost-of-living subsidy and free #betterred stickers.
