Probably not frame times, but probably meant to say higher minimum frame rates due to HBCC lowering memory requirements thus leading to twice memory bandwidth and higher minimum framerates as mentioned at the Capsaicin event: http://digiworthy.com/2017/02/28/amd-radeon-rx-vega-hbcc/

This is what I understood from past statements and what I understant that gibberish reported here was originally meant to say

yeah, that would make more sense. The guy that wrote the article posted above was just ignorant to what he was talking about I think.

There's a guy on reddit who's managing to run his Vega FE at 1607mhz whilst undervolted to 1.1v at reasonable thermals.

This bodes well for custom cards.

Interesting, with good cooler it's power limited and performance isn't so bad but uses a ton of power. Hopefully we will see a lot of power saving features

That reminds me, what are the odds of AMD doing a respin on Vega for the mobile crowd?
I don't believe it would have on board HBM2, so, it must be a new design, and it wouldn't have the cache interface that the desktop part has.
So, if it is a new design, they could, in theory, make a Polaris replacement as well, and have it work with GDDR5X.

I interested to see what impact on power the HBM2 is having.
Rx Vega was leaked as having 220w asic power and 285w tdp.

Seems like they delivered. They said if you're a gamer don't buy Vega FE. Not a lot of hype there.
So basically the green version of you would be saying "Don't look at the Titan XP, wait for the 1080Ti for performance figures". You know the Vega RX is a Vega FE with less - same vega chip, same hbm2 memory but cut down slightly for a lower cost market.

Except nVidia told us "buy the Titan Xp, it's the best gaming card you'll ever want until the next Titan, you'll get moar fps!!!!!!!1111oneleven" while AMD told us "if you are into gaming this card is not for you"

I can see a different message here, and you can see the different message too. So what's the problem? Are you into gaming? Well, wait for the damn RX and judge performance, wattage, price at that point. Why bother now?

I was responding to the allegation that AMD hyped the card to the moon and failed to deliver.

The hype was with "Poor volta" and such marketing. Tho, I feel pity for AMD marketing, imagine having to deal with grossly incompetent and underfinanced engineering that provides you with a product 1 year later that barely matches competitor card with half TDP and is already buried by GP102 before the release. And on top of that it costs way more to make due to larger die and HBM2 memory and interposer and massive power delivery circuitry, so you can't lower the price either.
Takes men of strong will to deal with that, everyone can sell Nvidia cards, only AMD marketing and sales can move theirs.

You know what? If their marketing team wouldn't have made that stupid campaign and that "poor volta" thingy... I mean how stupid and incompetent can one's marketing team be? Badmouthing competitors products is never a good thing and just plain stupid thing to do when they can't deliver.

They are amazing at hype trains, the issue is the rarely deliver. Ryzen being an exception.
Wait what? This is perfect epitome of what Hype Train is.

AMD: "If you are into gaming - this GPU is not for you".

Consumers after reading reviews of GPU: "AMD Failed. They overpromised and not delivered! Next Faildozer!".

What the ...? How can you see that they hype was created not by AMD, but by consumers? AMD has blatantly stated that this GPU is not gamers card, and you should wait for RX Vega GPUs.

Lets wait for RX Vega, and then come out with torches against AMD.

No, it was created by AMD when they started bashing nVidia's yet to be released card and inferring that Vega was going to blow its doors off.

Any word yet from the Budapest event?
Hopefully someone who is attending will comment.

Incredible. Waited 2 hours in the queue, but gave up. Very unprofessional organization.

This is what I have been told:
They had a FreeSync and a G-Sync system, one equipped with an RX Vega, the other with a GTX 1080, display was some 100 Hz ASUS.
The "contest" was to tell which one performs better. You have 2 minutes with each system. Finito.
Additionally, they have some ASUS gear to show.

That's it. Don't know who is / was responsible for this. What a joke.

Any hope I had left for RX Vega died with this event. Looks like the worst case scenario is true, RX Vega is around GTX 1080 performance, except it is a much larger (and more power-hungry) chip, which means they can't even price it really low to make it an attractive product without having almost nonexistent margins.

This will probably be the biggest failure in the GPU scene since a long, long time.
