No big deal with having an SO. Every weirdos can find SOs.

And I agree with him, wife and I- we barely stayed at the hotel. It's effin Vegas. We were out touring hotels to hotels, gambling, hittin' clubs, and late night gambling again.

First of all, when I travel, I only want a clean and safe place to sleep. Not into fancy places. One of my favorite hotel is Courtyard by Marriott. I would not want to pay a lot of money for high end places just to sleep.

OP, if you only want to hang out at the Strip and downtown and not into driving out to Hoover Dam and other places, then I highly recommend that you use the RTC bus pass. For $20 for unlimited 3 days or $8 for 24 hours (1 day), you can ride anything from the RTC. The Deuce (2 story bus) is running from the South end of the Strip (Mandalay Bay) to Freemont Street of downtown and then repeat the same route about every 10-15 minutes 24 hours a day. All the busses are clean and safe and you can meet and chat with the locals and many tourists.

I will reply with more information later.

Vegas you have to stay at something decent on the strip with a casino. I never understood the point of a 5 star like the Four Season and the Mandarin Oriental with no casino.

I stayed at the Venetian last month. Room was really nice and it is central to pretty much everything. Short ride from the airport, short ride to downtown, right in the middle of the strip. I'd recommend it.

my advice is not to go and find a better place to go on vacation. Vegas should be very low on anyone's list

Screw the venetian.

It's owned by enemy of the human race Sheldon Addleston who uses the money for corrupting our elections.

Recently did a Vegas/Zion trip.

One night at Mandalay Bay, nice but far from everything.

Three nights at Cosmopolitan, very nice but pricey. I'd recommend it but not if you are budget conscious.

Linq location is really good so even if the rooms are somewhat subpar (I don't know if they are, reviews were so-so when we looked) you'll be in the center of it all. The thing we found is whatever size you think it is on the map in terms of walking to stuff it is almost certainly much bigger than you realize but Uber and taxis are readily available and easy to deal with for getting around.

Also if you are even remotely interested in feats of engineering go to the Hoover Dam. If you like outdoorsy stuff Valley of Fire is pretty neat and not too far from Vegas.

for price conscious people the options are pretty much Linq, NYNY, Monte Carlo, Treasure Island. Monte Carlo is cheap as shit right now too (or at least was) because they're going through extensive remodels (I believe they're turning into a different hotel).

Vegas is whatever you (and your wallet) make of it.

You don't want to spend much money in Vegas? Why would you even go? Vegas is one of those places that having a good time and spending money go hand in hand.

Hold on a second. Why has nobody pointed out the fact that he said he has a SO??

Anyways, as everyone else mentions, I would ensure you stay on-strip, and mid-strip or beginning of strip. I've stayed at the MGM, Luxor, and Harrahs (off-memory). Harrahs was terrible as a hotel but cheap. MGM was probably the best, but is near beginning of strip and a decent walk to get anywhere (although there's plenty to do there and nearby), Luxor is similarly located at the beginning of the strip but is on the monorail. Not as much to do at Luxor compared to the others.

Check the actual hotel websites, sometimes they have some cheaper deals than what you can snag on expedia or similar.
I assume he is referring to his bag of fruit loops.

You guys are a bunch of spoiled princesses. When I was Tridentboy's age, I stayed at the Western. $19 for weekdays and $27 on weekends. I even insisted on staying there when my company wanted me to stay on the strip. It's a shame it shut down. You saw a much more interesting crowd back then. Like seeing Maynes and Naers in real life.

I've stayed at the Rio and the Cosmo. The Cosmo is extremely nice and will probably be my go-to next time I'm out in Vegas. Having a balcony view of the strip that overlooked the pool was awesome. It's in the perfect location too.

Rio is a dump. Made the mistake of staying there my first trip. The only good thing about the place is Penn & Teller.

Yeah Rio was pretty crappy compared to the nicer hotels on the strip, and it's off the strip which sucks too. I only stayed there because it was my first time in Vegas and part of the reason I was going was to play in the Evolution fighting game tournament and it was at that hotel and had discounted room rates. I was hardly there though and spent most of my time on the strip.

I plan to stay at the Cosmo next time I'm in Vegas. We stayed at the Palazzo and while it was nice, it was at the end of the Strip. I liked the location of the Cosmo and the balcony. It seemed more hip and modern as well. And I enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the Wicked Spoon. I thought that was the best buffet in Vegas.

lol $20 for a hotel room, is there even a bed? Even the basic chains are always $100+.

I think he was talking about years ago. No way you can get a decent place for $30/night right now. You can get rooms at Courtyard by Marriott for less than $100/night right now in Dallas. I stayed downtown Vegas for less than $100/night (weekdays and weekends) and they didn't charge "resort fee"...yet.

The problem in Vegas isn't finding cheap rooms. That's easy. It's the $30+ day resort fees hotels on the Strip charge. That can almost double the price of the cheap room.
