My wife and I are looking to go on a weekend getaway to Vegas sometime in February. I've been to Vegas, but I've never stayed at any of the hotels on the strip. Which hotel has the nicest rooms in the $150-200/night range?

MGM Grand signature!!! It's not right on the strip, but within walking distance.

Gorgeous place to stay - we loved it.

Um... so where exactly are you seeing room rates for those hotels in the price range I listed?

Flamingo.

It's not Sangri-La...but you're right in the middle of the strip and you can get some fairly good rates there.

My research 4 weeks ago from when I went.

As long as you're not going for a convention week, it's impossible NOT to find a room at this rate. If you want I have emails for Venetian + THE Hotel flooding my invoice, 120/night.

If you go on priceline you are pretty much guaranteed at a 5* resort for 150-200/night.

Haven't you heard? America's on sale.

//edit

I paid a touch over 1k for a 2nd tier suite @THE Hotel for 5n. Could have gone about 150 less if I had opted for the smaller room.

How close to your actual stay did you book? Perhaps it is best to wait until the last minute?

3 weeks.

for Planet Hollywood, they wanted recockulous rates, and then the week before our stay prices started tanking.

Seriously, go to the hotels I listed, and hit up their promo page, then sign up for email offers. If you PM me your email address I can forward you what I have in my inbox.

I've stayed at the MGM Signature and in the West Wing, loved both, but the Signature was my favorite.

The thing is, all hotels in Vegas (well, most) are great and affordable. The MGM has EVERYTHING in it though... You could literally stay in that one hotel until the end of your trip if you wanted.

I like going all around the strip and to downtown (get monorail passes at least one day, btw), but the MGM makes everything effortless.

Also: Go watch either Mystere or O!!!

Hotwire.com

3-night stay at a 5-star(central strip) on Feb 19 - 22 = $116 per night + taxes.

betterbidding.com will most likely be able to give you the hotel name or narrow it down to 2-3 hotels as well.

just got back from CES and loved the Planet Hollywood, though I'd say it's geared more towards the young single crowd than couples. The beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept on and the bathroom was half the size of the room. Great casino and every shop you ever heard of in the mall. On weekends the casino has go-go dancers up on platforms, helps to soften the blow as you lose your shirt at the tables.

Stayed at Treasure Island last time, never again.

Stayed at Mandalay Bay few years ago and it was great, but location is not ideal.

Will strongly consider staying at PH again, depending on who I go with next time.

Why would anyone go to Vegas with a SO??? That's called taking sand to the beach.

Priceline yourself a 5 star hotel on the east side of the strip... you won't be disappointed when you end up at the Venitian.
