I hate being in an enclosed space where I feel I have no control over and feel helpless if something bad ever happens, so I would not personally enjoy holiday at sea. Humidity is another problem for me, so there's another reason. Yet another reason is I can't swim, and if the boat ever goes under I'd hate the feeling of waggling my legs blindly under water not know what might come and take 'em away. The jaws of death, ack!!

I go to Vegas mainly because to meet up with relatives and enjoy the people, the beautiful rockies, the night life, the food, and the entertainment. I guess I'm just hooked to that place. Been there 13yrs ago, been back several times. Now even want to move down there.

I get the same uneasy feeling being in a cruise boat as I do in a plane. And no, I am weary of planes WAY before 911 ever occured. Its just a natural thing for me.

But if its going to be your wedding anniversary, and you want to do something special, memorable, and romantic, then yes a cruise is more suitable? Just my opinion, please don't hurt me...

I have two views on this as I live in Vegas, and am a SCUBA instructor.

Vegas is a lot of fun and there are many great shows and restaurants to go to. If you are into outdoor activities there are many things to do here also. You can go rock climbing, hiking, river rafting (CO river below Hoover dam) rent 4 wheelers, air tour of the grand canyon, and the list goes on. (did I mention the spectacular swimming pools...)

Cruise is great just because I love the water, and everything you can do in it.

You and your wife have to decide what it is you want to do on your vacation.

If you want more info on things to do here in LV feel free to PM me.

Well never been on a cruise, but I can say that Vegas is awesome! You can't see those shows on a cruise! The other thing to consider is the seasickness thing. Most of those boats you'll never even know you are on the water, but you might want to find out you have a problem with it on a normal vacation instead of possibly ruining a special event.

You'd be amazed at the shows they have on cruises. The productions are very nice, and rival much of the stock shows in Vegas both in talent and tech. The theators are HUGE too.

I have not been on a cruise but I have to say the top shows here are not to be missed. (There are a few goats too though) These were my favorites:

Cirque de Solei <--best show IMO
"O"
Blue Man Group <--most fun ever
Magic Shows <--pretty good

As well as many attractions at most of the Hotels.
Shark tank tube you walk through, IMAX at Luxor is pretty cool.
MGM theme park.
The list is huge.

Do you all know that we have a ski resort 45 min from town?? Yup, 10,000 ft too!

Yep, cool shows, but the shows on a cruise are free, while those range from 80 - 150 bucks a person.

You'll blow a lot less money on a cruise, especially if you are an average or worse gambler.

Very true. I love the people that come to town thinking they are going to win fortunes with systems. Reminds me of the saying:

"do you know what casinos say to people with systems?"
"what?"
"Welcome!"

You have to look at gambling as entertainment. There are very few people that make a living at it and they all play poker.

The shows I mentioned are all ~$75/each or so.

I would go on the cruise so I could go diving. Not to mention the fact that I live in Vegas so it would not be a vacation for me, or am I on a vacation right now???

Just got back from a cruise of the Carribbean. Went on Royal Carribbean, 7 days , Cozumel, Costa Miya, Grand Caymans. I loved it.

The number of things to do at the ports seem endless.

Decided to go with the cruise. After bouncing it all around, weighing the pros and cons...........

The Carribean looks like the place to go. All is booked, deposit made, found a place to 'hide' the kids, now for the wait to leave.

Thanks to all who contributed to this informal poll.

Who did you book with and to where? Kinda been wondering the same question myself, except I'm deciding between a Caribbean cruise or a trip out to Cancun sometime in the summer.

They can be, if you get to pick what days you go. If you're in town only a week, you don't buy 'em in advance, and there's a convention in town, prices can easily jump up to $150 a pop for a popular show.

My wife and I were making the exact same choice a couple of weeks ago for our 1st wedding anniversary. We chose Vegas in May. We have both been there before but there is so much we didn't get to see last time. Plus we just had our honeymoon in the Bahamas.
