There was another VR thread
here
I've always been a big STP fan, moreso than GNR. I've only listened to (most of) it once but I think it sounds pretty good so far. But it is definately more melodic, like any STP song, rather than raw like GNR. They could have gotten any guitarist to play on this, since they don't seem to be letting Slash quite do what Slash does best (except Slither). But again this isn't GNR and I also might change my mind later. I've been listening to Slither for several months and think it's pretty awesome, but don't think the rest of the album is gonna sound quite as good (but pretty good nonetheless). You Got No Right sounds really good; not surprising since STP and GNR both had good slower songs. Set Me Free was also on The Hulk soundtrack.
VR has been playing live shows since I believe last year, so there are some live tracks on P2P of them covering GNR, STP, and other bands. If they played here, I'd definately go.
I'm not too surprised they have the whole thing online. It's low quality, and you've have to record it yourself. Alex Van Halen recently said he doesn't care if people download their new songs. Seal had his whole last album available on his website for awhile.
Velvet Revolver are the artist of the week on
www.comcast.net and there's a 3 minute video temporarily there with an interview with Duff & Slash, and showing part of the music video for Slither. Click one of the L/R arrows below the picture if it's not showing on the page. You have to log in to view the video. Click 'watch velvet revolver in the fan'.
Slightly off topic, but I saw an awesome GNR tribute band (someone said the best) called Appetite for Destruction last Friday night here in Nashville. Check em out if they come your way. The women went wild.

More off topic, also check out the new Tesla - Into the Now CD released in March. Good CD. Selling well.
