weird, it says 2 max recording speeds, at the top it says 8X, at the bottom 2.4X, what gives?

I think these are 2.4X disks.

All Verbatim DL+R disk packages, (and I say all, because of my experiences), say they are 2.4X disks. They also say on the package that they are rated for higher speeds, (ie. 6X, 8X) if the burning device can burn at those higher speeds. My current 10 pack spindle I bought a month ago at OM says they are 2.4 rated and then printed within a golden box label, states "up to 6X speed with compatible high speed drives". They burn at 8X on my NEC 3550.
If you click on the picture from the Beastbuy link to enlarge, you will see the "up to 8X speed" claim.

I second to that...I bought bunch of these at MC around Thxgiving 05 for $9.99+tax each for qty of 10 box. Enough to last me for 6 months.
Not to threadcrap here but it seems like Best Buy nowadays seems to have the worst buys of just about of anything I can think of.
I've stopped buying from BB for months now and I've done most of my shoppings at Fry's, CC, or MC.

Or even $1.50 a disc. $2 each is just too high for me when you can get single layer discs for less than .30¢ each. I usually buy a few DL to have on hand for special occasions, but for the most part, I still burn primarily single layer discs because of price.
