I know I've been awya for a few years but even back then we werent allowed to link coupons I've looked everywhere for this 10 off 50 dollar store printable coupon (ie office depot, Ofiice max and staples) but everytime I click something it leads me to a broken link or something. Could soembody PM me. have things changed am I doing something wrong?

Its even worse now as you get a "vacation" asking for a coupon or getting a PM so beware my friend. Check some posters SIG's for bargain site links.

How did you identify it? I just picked mine up at a store too and the serial on the box is 22 digits long. The serial on the drive is 10 digits then a little space and two more digits. I'm at work right now so I don't have all the "tools" like I do at home. Win2K identifies it as a 48x12x50, that's all.

If it is an Aopen, that's a pretty good choice too isn't it? I'm going to install CDex and see what it says...

How do you guys know!!! What if I want to upgrade my firmware. If you check Verbatim's site, the support section for drives is under construction. I tried calling the number they gave and while I was on hold they kept mentioning the CenDyne website?? Finally they wanted me to leave a message and I hung up.

I thought it was kinda strange that Windows says it's a 48x12x50 in stead of 48x12x48 like it says everywhere.

OK, now that I've had my lunch and my head is on straight. I found that mine is an Aopen too.
BTW, there is a failry new firmware on Aopen's site...

How do you know it an Aopen
How can I tell what Drive I have ???

Well, another poster mentioned they got an Aopen from the B&M OfficeMax so I thought that's probably what I had too. I went to the Aopen website and looked at their product listing for a 48x12x50, which is the CRW4850. Click on that link and it lists two different part numbers:
Nero Bonus Pack PN: 91.3AD37.011/055
Bulk Pack PN: 91.3AD37.002

If you look on top of the drive at the part number, mine says 91.3AD37.025 That seems pretty close to me. But I've tried to flash it with the Aopen flash utils for that drive and I get this error: Cannot update for different Type Code

You know, I actually called the number listed on Verbatim's site for tech support and while I was on hold, it kept saying alot of stuff about Cendyne. Maybe I can use their flashers.

You might be saying, "why are you trying so hard to flash"? Well, right now my drive is generic, the BIOS or Windows doesn't call it anything and Verbatim's support site for CDRWs is under construction, which bothers me, slow firmware updates. Aopen just released a new one 3 days ago!

In another thread, someone stated that they were on backorder so maybe they pulled it, I noticed it wasn't listed anymore either. You could go to a store, but you probably won't get a Lite-On!

At the top of the Hot Deals forum there is a rebate tracking thread and I believe someone listed a whole slew of websites where you can check rebate status, maybe one of them has it? Long searching solution...

I can see if I have the e-version tomorrow at work and send it to ya.

Or, can you get to a OfficeMax store? Pick up their rebate book.

Was it backordered? Check to see who the manufacturer is, Lite-On??

Look at the label on the drive (top label inside), 48X12X50 CD-RW....... made in china... next right to it said "AOpen Inc. " and the address...
the s/n # is different outside box and the label on the drive itself..... so can not quite sure the outside box label VBT48481248A can give you any hint.
... so far 3 dead cdr (out of 10) ....something wrong with the lead out.... i may exchange it. (althought i am using a 40X CDR rating for 48X... will it be the problem?)

Did you scan those result cd-rs? I bet that you will find a lot of damaged spots using Nero CD Speed. Make sure DMA is on.
