For those who like Verbatim, these are those funny "Vinyl" CD-Rs. The price isn't as great as some deals, but Verbatim is getting harder to find since Target stopped carrying them and they are the Super Azo, archival quality. Really 0.26 each isn't bad at all.
. And I've heard but can't confirm that at least some of the Khypermedia brand CD-Rs are also Super AZO.

Not a bad price if you are into Vinyl CD-Rs, I however heard some bad things about Vinyl discs quality so I'll pass.

What sort of bad things did you hear? I was thinking of picking up some.

They don't burn fast on some writers, I've heard of people getting 24x max. On my MSI drive I get good speeds. They have the nice dark blue dye.

I'd say only complaint is the space on the front for writing is TINY. If anyone has info on these discs being crummy quality I'd love to hear about it. I like the look of them, and the instant rebate sold me on a spindle today. I might pick up a few more if I don't hear anything too bad about them

13 for $50 on average disc's isn't a hot deal at all. But these have a cool factor, Sorta like the TDK DVD-R discs have the movie reel design on the face (they are also very expensive)

Feh, you can just print LP labels or movie reels on a label and slap that puppy on.

Mostly that the general burn quality is not as good as with regular Super Azo discs - it is still quite good but it aproaches to mediocre quality blanks really close so no go for me. Also they are not rated so you'll have to rely on your burner to determine the optimum speed and if your burner guesses wrong you might end up with a bad burn. Although I do believe that Vinyl discs use older generation of Azo layer so they should be rated to 16x speed.

TY of course. Just don't buy 30pk Fujis, several ppl including me reported that they have worse quality than 50pk. Might have been a coincidence but I'm not going to risk it second time.

Are you referring to the regular silver top Fujis or the swirl topped? I've heard that the swirl version can be slightly not as good as the silver tops even though they are TY.

i would buy these because i like to have experience with as many types of media as possible
burn speed is the least of my concerns: paramount would be the integrity of the burn, and of course the ability to play in as many devices as well, w.o the need for pass-throughs or hacks
thanks to the op!

I think a better deal is 50 Sony CDRs at Walgreens of all places, for $10. My jaw hit the table when I saw that....

I thought that this is an old Metal Azo not a super Azo. Super Azo is for those discs that certified at higher speed. One nice thing about these though, they are Audio CD type. So you can just use this in an standalone CD recorder. I don't know why they dont advertise it as one though.

I bought one by the way. Burning at lower speed on my LiteOn yield okay quality. But it just looks cool.

I bought a spindle and started burning. Out of the 50, 32 were duds. VERY disappointed with the results - this is even worse than Ritek or CMC CDs.

This is getting returned to BB.

Sony CDR aren't all that. Sure it's better than CMC or Prodisc. But, TY are much better in term of quality. I also have good experience with Maxell and Pioneer. Ritek in the past used to be bad as well, don't know about them now.

Also, some GQ that i bought from fry's are Sony CDR. I think i bought those for $7.99. I stopped buying those now, so don't know what they use now.

What kinda burner do you have? I've bought a couple 10 packs of them at Target and had no problems.

This is true about the swirltop colored fujis. I bought some a few months ago, and although thet are TY, I get about 3x the amount of C1 errors as I do with the 50 pk Fujis. Weird. I thought I maybe I had a bad batch, but I see now that other people noticed the same thing.

I used to buy Verbatim Super AZO discs at Sam's by the spindle thinking they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. I've had a few problems with my car cd player not reading them properly after a couple years. It still reads my other media, so I'm at a loss as to why. I've switched to TYs.

I just burned a cd with these Vinyl discs. 32x on my MSI 52/32/52 drive. Not the fasted media, but a 3 minute burn is good for a disc with the extra coating. I don't take good care of my media so I need something strong. I think I'll head back to BB and pick up 2-3 more spindles.
