I think this is a warm deal, but it's the best I could find right now. 100 DVD-Rs for $20 aint bad, as long as the rebate goes thru.
Buy.com

Rebate is $14

**UPDATE

Now $17.99 after rebate. I've burned about 10 of my discs and they work great.

**UPDATE 2

Deal died quickly. Old deal is better now.

Lukewarm to be honest. If you have a Fry's in your vicinity, they always sell 100pk spindle's for around 15 bucks with no rebate. Granted they're the no-name brand, but it doesn't really matter when they're well under a quarter each.

That's what you say. But hey, it's your data. Good luck with those no-name discs.

If you have an Ink Stop nearby, they sell 50 disk cakes for $10 after IR. Confirmed in Troy, Michigan.

just ordered them. They also have some "deal" 1 month trial in some kind of crap but it gets you $25 credit from Buy.com you can cancel during the 1 month trial and owe nothing. So I'll wind up getting these for free.

If they are verbatim (mcc for +r not sure for -r) then they should be good for the price. GQ are not always bad it completly depends on the Media ID. I prefer +r. supposed to be a superior spec but I wonder if it has ever mattered in any practical sense.

Oh, it'll matter the day you go to read one of those GQ discs and it won't read.

In the '70s, when I wanted to buy tape cassettes, I would buy Maxell UDXL II's. I'd steer clear of the store brands. Same rules apply today. It's not about how much the media costs; it's about how much you value what you're putting on it.

these Verbatim 16x -R's (MCC03G20) are excellent. The +r's are also quite good. And Verbatim is always good with rebates (I have got at least 10 rebates returned from Verbatim).

You people that think all discs are the same, need to read this website. I do not buy any media without finding out the media code first. Usually I use Maxell or Fuji, Made in Japan. This guarantees me good media and good burns. Low error rates (c1/c2)

www.nomorecoasters.com

The Fry's in Austin did not have Verbatim nor any good media Made in Japan last time I shopped. Everything was made in Taiwan, and is probably manufacturered by CMC or other no-name manufacturer. I had Memorex CMC discs go bad on me after one year in storage! They were just sitting in my closet in a binder. Now, the data can't be read on most of them.

I agree. You can't go wrong with Made in Japan media. It just seems it is getting harder to find in the stores. Most of the media is made in Taiwan and I even spotted some made in India (TDK I believe). All the Japan media I've picked up has always been Yudens.

I picked up some Verbatim 16x -R's last weekend and they were MCC 03RG20. Watch out for older burners as they may not recognize the media or have a burn strategy for it. My optorite won't burn it, but my NEC loves it.

Meh, I used to always buy the expensive (comparitively) yudens online, but recently i got a few 100 pack no name brands on sale, and I haven't had many problems with them. Occasionally, I do get a bad disc (maybe one in a 100 pack), but it's not a deal breaker, and I haven't noticed any errors.

But of course, I realize that not all media is the same, but it's not as big of a deal as some make it out to be. There's still some media that should be avoided at all costs though.
